For every winner there's a loser and there's big money to be made from share dealing. I'd trust no one if I were you, especially those telling you that they know someone or something. They're probably just out to shaft you like the rest. I'm still a newbie, never professed to being otherwise (you'll note oilbarron's sarcastic sneering remarks) and have come to the conclusion that share dealing is not a pleasant environment at all. It's full of liars and bravado. I guess I'll be getting more dodgy texts and phone calls again tomorrow night too now.

Undoubtedly, they are spread betters and not shorters in the biblical sense. As for multiple IDs, it's become a real problem on this site. I hate to say it but I've made many suggestion to the admin folk this year and that's my biggest bugbear. They don't seem to have the answer, I do. Making the posters IP address visible beneath their username would be a solution that would end it once and for all.

Cool, thanks. It's probably fear and tension as no one knows which way things are going. I thought it was an unwritten rule that you never wish anyone ill fortune on others and their investments, but it seems this week that that argument has been really really blown out of the water. Shame. It's all on here to see, and there's nothing behind the scenes. I don't short shares, I have shorted the indexes in the past though as it's an honest hedge. Shorting individual shares is eeeeevil in my opinon and impacts on far more people. I think we'd find that most shorters are wishful thinkers tbh

I've had no contact on these boards with fjp for weeks and yet on thursday night he had to mention TRV (which I had a big hit on). No one else on LSE, except mystic, posts on TRV. I poked fun at myself about the drop, waaaay earlier than his post, yet he couldn't resist telling everyone that he had a short on it (which IMO is of course a load of rubbish) So, if fjp is so grown up then why did he post an antagonising message that he knew would rile me? He'll be back, he makes these departure threats on a regular basis these days and needs LSE more than LSE needs him.
