Their was only one minor objection during the public consultation. Reopening the mine would bring tourism through the visitor centre idea and so jobs to the area. As I understand it most locals are happy for the works. As I showed on telegram yesterday bats in particular horseshoe bats were mentioned in the mine back in 2018 when I think a European protected species licence was put forward and granted for the rehabilitation works. It’s the first mention of otters I have seen however. Whilst they talked of alternative means to accsess that section i can’t see they will be allowed to do much if a small pump system will disturb bats I also think it would be more costly other targets are of course still on the table dependant on where those animals lay and I hope to see the full report soon published on nrw website pressing ahead with the cross cut seems the most important thing now
