15 weeks between dividend payments

Broomtree, I can understand the frustration if you've been here since IPO. Even over the past 18 months I've been following GSF there have been many flip-flops and empty promises. I'm still hopeful we are seeing the seeds of change with new strategy shortly after the new BoD is formed.

Broomtree, they definitely said on the call yesterday special dividend was days away - plural, not singular day! At bets this group wants to make on the definition of 'just days away' in GSF speak? I'll go with March 24th.

It was nice to see regular dividend announced promptly 7am morning after Strategy and Capital Allocation update yesterday. Maybe things are changing? I also really did appreciate Angus the new Chair together with Alex on the call. I hope Angus is listening here and that continues. I think it better demonstrates the Board and Investment manager are both working in shareholder interests. The old GSF Board of Directors was pretty much invisible to us shareholders in the past.

It’s just so strange not to mention it at all after previously so many previous communications.

So has the special dividend been rolled into the 7p per year now?

Good research Pip. I agree we are off a 5 yr established trend now.

If we don't get a NAV / dividends reported this week I'll start to think there is disagreement between Investment Manager and the Board. I expect the Board to do a close review of first NAV printed under their tenure. However, that should be factored into the timeline rather than result in a delay.

Then again maybe they are just waiting for St Paddy's day! Luck of the Irish!

I don't think you can draw a direct comparison between an investment firm like ii and a bank with respect to FSCS account coverage. I believe shares, funds, ETFs etc held in your account are held in trust for the account holder and owner of these products. ii or other investment firms don't borrow your assets on deposit and use them for investments as far as I understand. Cash in your account may be different and likely subject to the 120k new insurance limit.

I had looked into it when I setup my ii account a few years ago. I had similar concerns because I'm over the coverage limit.

Really not much media coverage to the results just released. Any reasons? I think the market listing has been a barrier to some retail investors being able to buy shares. I think some challenges were reported here. I was required to take a risk assessment quiz with ii platform. I don't think this will move the SP on its own.

Entry to FTSE 250 would be more impactful. I believe Cordiant could enter FTSE 250 on next refresh which might be September.

Ashtead Group would be interesting. Ashtead Technology was divested as part of a management buyout in 2008. Talk about calling in the flock.

I personally have my bets on it being Hunting PLC who might go after Ashtead Technology. They revised their strategy last year and raised the priority on the subsea segment. The strategic includes comments about acquisitions in this area. Its all published online including presentations to analysts.

Two weeks ago they bought a company called FES International.

Welcome to the group Squad. This stock is slowly rerating but we just need to be patient. There are clearly ups and downs along the way.

Next stop on this journey is the full year results announcement on March 17th. Hopefully we get good results on profit and reduction of debt.

If good, then the next catalyst is entry into FTSE 250 @ +500p.

Does anyone know if Ashtead participates in services for these energy cables being laid out on east and west coasts of UK? Prysmian, the company that got a good share of the cables is hitting all time highs.

My shares held in general stocks and shares account on ii and no withholding tax. I have a REIT in same account and a get the withholding tax reduction.

I also purchased more today. Am I right to assume that Steven Marshall's trading period closes 30 days before the interim trading announcement? Last year Cordiant reported on March 24th.

This dividend payment snuck up on me. I think it's because they changed the timing on last announcement so it wasn't on my tracker. They mentioned the sale update at year end which I took to mean their fiscal year end in March. Am I wrong?

I'm feeling a lot more comfortable now a week after the trading update. I remember after results in October the share briefly jumped up 10% and almost immediately reversed and continued the downward trend. Shorts level peaked around that time.

Now there appears to be some solid base for share price and shorts are falling away quickly.

I'll sit on it and chill out until the earnings release.

I saw my quarterly 0.69p dividend come through yesterday but when is that 2nd 1.5p going to be announced? Any clues?

Funny, I happened to do a similar check this week and concluded about 525p to ensure entry into FTSE 250 using 84mil shares. That milestone would certainly help create a solid foundation for main market investors. It was also nice to see Ashtead on the top risers on the main market this week to generate more interest.

I am personally sitting patiently on this one. I agree they talked up the institutional investment interest as a reason for the main market listing. It's probably true in long run. Short term they lost their IHT funds investors who can only hold AIM listed companies.

There hasn't been much market news to act as a catalyst and break the downwards trend line. There are still a substantial group (the short sellers) who must believe there is a fundamental issue and share will go lower.

A non-exec Director was buying even last week (30k shares) and he must roughly know the year end results so that is very positive in my opinion.

I personally believe this will be a buy but not certain now is the right moment to jump straight in. If I were Sir Dave Lewis I would take the first quarter or 2 to assess the business then clear out the closets of bad news. As someone said that might include price premium corrections or selling off businesses. That is probably the perfect inflection point but nobody can perfectly predict timings.

Maybe a staggered approach to buying a position in Diageo is best right now. Any other thoughts.

Any ideas here on what's driving the price up these last couple of days? No news I can see.
