Gerry, I am a 70 year old expat living in Cape Town so no uk tax breaks, and I said I was waiting for 1.90 ISH which means around £2. I have to be careful nowadays because I only get a basic uk state pension which isn’t indexed linked and there’s no supplementary benefits here. However I have £35k from last years dividend to use for topping up, but I don’t want to add now because 2.35 is my average. So personally I am going to keep my powder dry until after ex dividend and I’m expecting another quite large dividend in June.

Do you remember 2009 I do. I was buying Taylor Wimpy for pennies and Aviva for £2. Six years ago I bought Shell for £9 when people were saying it will never go that low, then some peeps said it will never recover to £12.50 but here we are at £35! All three of these companies cancelled or reduced the dividend.

PC, Some missiles are the length of your arm and others are cruise missiles ideal for sinking tankers anywhere in the gulf. As for mines the yanks will start clearing them now their 3 part plan is in place. The Iranians have been preparing for decades so they already have underground silos in the desert, or in the side of mountains and they recently received a delivery of missiles from China. All they have to do once a week is fire a small missile at any of their neighbouring countries airports which will make the whole region a no fly zone. The only way to stop this is by getting the people in power with the king and an elected government.

Hey PC did you know Iran is huge and has two mountain ranges so it’s impossible to find and destroy all of the missiles and their launchers. They only need to occasionally fire one off at an airport or a tanker then the insurance companies will shut everything down. The IRGC don’t want to die and the one’s that haven’t runaway are fighting because if they get caught will lose their jobs, money and houses and will end up in jail or get a neck stretch.

Right now I have 30k sitting on the sidelines but I’m not buying anything because there’s a long weekend coming up when the sp could drop further. This will be followed by ex div when the sp will surely tank! Personally I’m waiting to top up at 1.90 ish, it’s just too much of a gamble betting on what comes out of Trump’s mouth and this is my pension money.

I was with TW. since the crash in 2009 and over the years they dropped the dividend more than once. I sold them last year and bought here.

UShares I think DB lowered the LGEN rating to Hold but it’s only down 5p

Do you remember posting everyday that Shell will never reach £12! Lol that was a ride from £9 I think we both sold at £25 just before it hit £30!

Unlike day traders I suppose I’m a ten year trader. You see a bloke in a pub told me back when TW. were 4p per share during the 2009 banking crisis about the uk’s ten year boom bust cycle.

I have lived in this cycle since the early 70’s when I left school into the three day working week.

He went on to say in ten years the next time it booms have as much money as you can scrape together sitting on the sidelines. I did this and had £42k at the end of Trumps first term and sure enough there was a huge big bubble just waiting to go bang, but instead of it crashing Covid happened and did the same thing. So I watched RDS and waited for two months while this 112 year old blue chip company tanked to £8.60 and I tripled my money in a couple of years.

If I still have a pulse at the end of Trumps next term I will definitely have a chunk of change sitting on the sidelines even if it takes a few more years.

Market, you don’t have to tell me that as I said before those three years were Wild West. There were guys on the board who had been with shell for decades and before OPEC and Putin had their .issing contest driving oil down to -$30. This was then followed by the war sanctions and pipelines getting blown up. My point is the SP had never been at $30 and was already dropping before everything turned to ..it with the energy crisis and this was due to alternative energy. No one thought it would go up to $30 but it did because of the buybacks.

After dropping to £8.60 Shell had a buyback to avoid paying tax on North Sea O&G, then a couple of years later the sp ended up at £30 ps higher than it had ever been. During that three year period no one on the LSE board ever once mentioned that it could possibly reach £30.

Hi Timmo, I’m a bit out of the loop is this new Labour £12,000 tax bill you mentioned a flat rate over a certain amount? Also do you know if it will be taxed at source or must it be declared at the end of the tax year? Any info from anyone would be appreciated but please dumb it down cheers.

Yes me too after 15 years I sold 39,000 TW shares just before they went up 15p, and bought LGEN just before they dropped 15p you couldn’t make it up. Anyway here it’s Friday and I’m two hours ahead which means Happy time. Strap in be lucky and enjoy the ride.

I don’t want to be a party pooper but isn’t it highly likely the bosses will drop a bomb on us during final results and create a massive tree shake just before ex dividend a few weeks later.

The share price may then get pushed back down to £2.20 so the M’s can hoover up a shed load of cheap shares for buyback. It’s not a problem for long term holders in fact it might be a buying opportunity but what do I know.
