Connexion, There’s more to it I live overseas, I’m nearly 68 and my basic uk pension is not indexed linked so I’m stuck on £185 per for the rest of my days. To top it off Barclays told me they are closing my account after 40 years because of some stupid Brexit rule. To top that off ii won’t send my divi to my SA bank account, so yes every pound is very important. Anyway too late now at £1.38 so I may as well take the divi and hope the rates drop soon.
The 1st of April is Easter Monday and a public holiday so there won’t be any trading, therefore the last trading date is Thursday 28th March.
Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Also how far is the sp lightly to drop after ex div and for how long. I bought 34000 shares 15 years ago for 39p and I need to take the money out during the next five months to help support my pension.
Should I sell now before ex div.
Nolo,
Aren’t you concerned about Indian and other countries currencies who are in BRICS
£2.70 + before Ex div what say ye.
Hey PC, the uk gov have put a stop on hormone treated meat, but this could just be a negotiation tactic and the final decision will wait until after the elections.
I have just sold all of my Shell shares which I bought for £9.60 a few years ago but at pension age it’s all getting a bit stressful. I’m not a trader so last week I bought 52000 LGEN shares hoping for a nice quiet boring safe life although I do wish the divi was paid quarterly.
Armani,
Me too I have been holding 34,000 shares since the Big Bang but, I’ve not been trading just collecting the divi with an average of 35p since the rights issue.
That’s a lot of dividend over the last 14 years £2 here we come.
Hey Ripley, after the Big Bang and ten years on I put 45k on the sidelines waiting for the 2020 bubble to burst but, it didn’t happen because the plague came along and cooled the markets. This gave us the same long term trading opportunities and now a couple of years later with all that furlough cash sloshing around, two wars and tight Arabs and here we go again but this time without the wait.
Kpa, Lol I did the same thing in the 09 crash and bought 34,000 Taylor Wimpey shares for pennies.
I’m not moaning I’m seeking advice from hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me, which wouldn’t be hard because I don’t want to stuff up and lose it all.
Y11
The thing is I bought 4200 Shell shares for £9.60 but, sold half at £25.90 a month ago just before it shot up. Bummer I know! So I haven’t been able to get back in and thought maybe I should add to my smaller BP holding. I am a pensioner and not a day trader but, I supposes you could call me a ten year trader as I buy on the boom bust cycles.
My dilemma is do I buy now and get the divi, or wait a few day’s when hopefully the sp will of dropped a bit more.
Moniman, this morning the first thing to greet me on this board was arguments, and now on Friday afternoon we would like to have a beer.
It has been three years since we had an sp of £8 when no one ever thought we would get to £27+. Maybe you would be happier with LGEN nice and safe, oh but don’t they invest in O&G.
