A UK Foreign Office spokesperson said:

“The United Kingdom has no doubt about its sovereignty over the Falkland Islands and surrounding maritime areas.

“Hydrocarbon exploration in the Falkland Islands is a legitimate commercial venture regulated by the Falkland Islands Government and Argentine domestic law does not apply in the Falkland Islands.”

The UK and Argentina have disputed ownership of the Falklands for years, leading to a war in 1982.

Argentina claims sovereignty over the British-ruled islands which it calls the Malvinas.

The sanctions add to those levelled against eight firms who faced similar measures between 2011 and 2015.

The South Atlantic News Agency reported that the sanctions could mean companies directly or indirectly involved can face five to 20 years disqualification from operating in Argentina.

It also reported that multinational organisations such as the Latin American Energy Organisation, the Ibero-American Summit, comprised of heads of state of Spanish and Portuguese speaking nations, and the UN “Group of 77” plus China.

Argentina has appointed a Malvinas minister and said it will redraw maps to emphasise its claim on the region.

The Falklands War saw 649 Argentinian and 255 British soldiers killed over the course of the 10-week conflict.

We need not to be worrying ourselves with the current negative market news that are affecting almost every stock in the UK and across the World too. The HBR company is in a much better financial position that many others out there.
We need to be patient and allow the markets do their usual up and down until the dust settles for good and we can then get share price stability followed by growth. I'm not selling until I get neat to my exit target which is between £5.95 and £6.50. In the meantime I can only see growth from here and would suggest anyone thinking to buy Hbr for the first time to get buying at these low prices or grab an opportunity to average down if possible. Moreover, stop counting the pennies as we're in pounds now and this share can jump and drop in multiples of plus 10p. And finally, for 2022 I see the share price yo be over £7. NoFear

These companies have teamed with companies already exploring areas around the Falklands, known as the Malvinas in Argentina, without the authorization of Argentina, as required by national law, he said.

"Nobody can explore for hydrocarbons in the Argentinian continental platform without the authorization of the government," Filmus said.

The three companies have put capital into exploration ventures in the North Falklands Basin, or North Malvinas Basin, he said, adding that the sanctions (could include asset embargoes) .

BUENOS AIRES, July 7 (Reuters) – Argentina's government has launched a process to sanction a number of foreign firms it accuses of illegally drilling for oil in a disputed area near the British-run Falkland Islands, over which the South American country also claims sovereignty.

The country's energy secretary Darío Martínez told reporters on Wednesday it would seek sanctions against UK-based Chrysaor Holdings, Harbour Energy and Israeli firm Navitas Petroleum , adding them to eight other firms previously sanctioned between 2011 and 2015.

Reuters could not immediately reach the firms for comment.

Argentina and Britain have long disputed ownership of the Falklands, with Argentina claiming sovereignty over the islands it calls the Malvinas. The dispute led to a brief war in 1982 in which 255 British troops and about 650 Argentine soldiers died.

"The companies are not authorized to operate nor have they requested any type of authorization," Martinez said at a press conference, adding they were operating with illegal licenses from the "illegitimate authorities" of the Falkland Islands.

Argentina's current center-left Persons government has ratcheted up rhetoric over the disputed islands, some 650 kilometers (403.89 miles) of the country's southeast coast and home to some 2,600 people, mostly of British descent.

The government has appointed a Malvinas minister, saying it will redraw maps to emphasize its claim for use in schools and lobbying at the United Nations.

Block 7 (25% non-operated interest), Sureste Basin Harbour Energy has a 25 percent interest in Block 7, in the shallow water Sureste Basin in the Gulf of Mexico. Block 7 contains the giant Zama field which extends into the neighbouring block which is 100 percent owned by Pemex. The Block 7 partners and Pemex continue to progress Zama towards a targeted late 2021 final investment decision (FID).

Block 30 (30% non-operated interest), Sureste Basin. We have a 30 percent non-operated interest in Block 30, which is located directly to the south of the Zama field in the Sureste Basin. Two prospects, Wahoo and Pike, are targeted for drilling in 2022.

MEXICO CITY, July 5 (Reuters) - Mexico's energy ministry has selected state-owned Pemex to operate a southern Mexico oilfield it shares with a consortium led by U.S. company Talos Energy (TALO.N), according to a document and three people close to the decision.
The document, a copy of which was seen by Reuters, showed that Energy Minister Rocio Nahle on Friday notified Pemex president Octavio Romero of the decision.

"We have decided to designate Pemex Exploration and Production as the operator of the unified area," the letter said.

The letter also stated that Pemex had said in June that it had the financial capacity to develop the project, held 50.43% of the reserves on its side of the reservoir and already had nearby infrastructure for receiving, storing and exporting the crude oil.

Neither Pemex, Talos nor the Energy Ministry responded immediately to requests for comment.
