POWER
The power plant's mechanical and electrical availability for 2011 was 95% and 99.6% respectively. The total energy produced by the plant for the year was 96.7MWh, constituting 92.3% of the total power demand of 104.3MWh for 2011. The balance of the mine's demand was supplied from the national grid power which became the primary source of electrical power to the mine on 10 December 2011.
All 20 of the power plant generators, including the automatic synchronisation, have been fully commissioned as a standalone back-up plant. The power plant's online efficiencies as a standby unit were 0.256L/kWh and US$0.30/kWh respectively.
So the original deisel powered generators are still in situ and act as backup at Tongon.
Seems RRS are covering all bets......pretty sure the locals will benefit from surplus generation and full access at end of mines working life.....Africa must love the RRS board.....smart cookie is our CEO.
