Can anyone hazard a guess as to how many jobs there are in the onshore industry, apart from Wytch Farm, the number is minimal, when there is some company drilling onshore, some of the offshore boys will go for a week or so during their leave, but say the wages are poor. The number of people working in the offshore oil and gas sector has returned to levels not seen since before the Covid-19 pandemic.

The UK is at risk of being "starved" of North Sea energy leaving it reliant on imports, a major oil and gas producer has told the BBC. Ithaca is almost entirely invested in North Sea oil and gas. Environmental groups say any new oil and gas fields in the region would take the UK over its carbon budget limits. Last week, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said a Labour government would not grant licences to explore new fields in the North Sea, saying it would be an "historic mistake" to wait until UK oil and gas runs out. But Gilad Myerson, executive chairman of Ithaca, said the move would threaten the UK's energy security.

There might be some substance to that saying, and I detest Labour attitude to the North Sea and hydrocarbons in general, they are trying to cash in on the green vote, and I hope it is that, that comes back to haunt them, but on saying all that I never invested in ukog to help Net Zero, I invested in the Gatwick Gusher and what I thought was a good British small oiler, I got it wrong on both parts, but I was fortunate after several years managing to get most of my investment back, but still holding some, and indeed now playing about with my insignificant investment, I used to believe in the company and indeed many moons ago was called a ramper for simply being hopeful, I have since seen the error of my ways and believe nothing ukog says, its a lifestyle company, for trading only, I feel sorry for genuine investors that have bought in over the years believing and many still holding with high averages…
