Agree, fifty plus countries for me, mostly work related. Fresh French bread, regional cheeses, patisserie and charcuterie all excellent. Not too keen on some cuts of beef. Love the high terrain Savoie cuisine and the most Southerly departments' food though it has to be said. Really recommend wild mushrooming in the Maritime Alps, Jura and Vosge in Autumn.
The overly buttery classical cuisine quite avoidable.
