Dd for the avoidance of doubt I meant the product as in the sensor. We are reliant on that sensor being accepted into devices and that device being marketed by the OEM. That’s why we need to be patient. Some are confused that the first commercial order meant the sensor itself was being sold. It’s not how the supply chain or product development works.

It’s never going to be a case of going from zero to repeating commercial orders of a magnitude that will shift the needle in the short term. If the product is good and has a market demand will grow and that’s what is being guided. Just have some patience for goodness sake.

It doesn’t have to be an impressive device at all. None of them need to be impressive, they just need to sell in volume that hopefully rise incrementally but it could be a slow start rather than some sort of headline product.

Only recently have the materials been validated and supplies of the commercial order completed.

STM are either only just providing samples of their new sensor(s) with the newly validated material for evaluation OR the first supplies of an accepted product for integration into a device(s) are being shipped as some think. We don’t know but I think the former is the more likely scenario.

The device with the new sensor doesn’t seem to be on sale as yet otherwise I’m sure info on it would be in the public domain and someone would have found it or be announcing its new capabilities.

STM have indicated they will order more from Nanoco presumably because they expect to be selling the sensors they’ve invested significantly into developing.

Whichever way you cut it the sensor is only just emerging to market and sales take time to build for them and by extension Nanoco.

Iphone 16 is September '24. I doubt it will feature our tech as the timelines don't marry up.

Gen1 materials could end up in devices that use STM sensors already and are easily upgradable and not nearly as exciting as mobile devices, wearables or auto. It wouldn't surprise me if it ends up on a fridge, a robot vacuum, a lawnmower, a tap, a CCTV sensor or a food produciton line first and that's where gradual growth will come from as more end users integrate the sensor into their products - after evaluation of course.

here another one. These articles are often just to boost the authors reach and I wouldn;t bet the house on it one way or another but I don't believe underscreen facial ID was ever suggested for anything but the i16 pro/pro max and not the run of the mill phone.

Kooba I recommend you re listen to the presentation you linked with a fresh perspective understand the development cycle. Yes they’ve had engineering samples of the sensor before (a prototype if you will) to understand what it could do and possible applications….now they have a finished product with which they can evaluate its performance before using it in an end device that could be many months yet from release. At that point I expect STM to point to live application of the product and for Nanoco to indicate the same backed up with more orders.

STM were sampling Nanoco in my opinion. The materials were validated. STM placed the first ‘commercial’ order so that they could produce sensors for sampling/evaluation.

That’a what my understanding is.
