RE: FT article on energy storage23 Nov 2020 14:01
Can anyone say exactly where BV energy could sit in terms of generating green hydrogen. I am familiar with the Orkney project which seems great albeit on a small scale. The only other firm seems Hydosolar. Also how does the hydro electrolyser (ITM) differ from a VRedox flow electrolysers. Is there a maket for producing both maybe.
My thinking is the energy transformation will be to electric and fuel (H). I am confident we have the best tech for solar , tidal and wind to electricity but im not wholly convinced for Hydrogen. This is from lack of understanding how the orkney project works economically. Basically the cost of tide (some sort of infrastructure) to electric ie (VRDOX) and then to hydrogen (hydrogen electrolysis). 3 stages seems excessive at first glance
Someone said for H electrolysis there needs to be a non variable/ constant source of energy so our batteries are good for that but economically and in terms of production is having two forms of electrolysis every going to be economically efficient
