BHP is hoping buy Western Foreland from Ivanhoe who also owns the No1: ranked Kamoa-Kakula which is a new copper mine of Robert Friedland fame.

I also read yesterday that COBALT is going to be mined in DRC and the Chinese are going to process cobalt in the DRC.

I wonder if PJ can somehow PEG next to Western Foreland, DRC? This will be then next door to Kamoa-Kakula. Would be really great if PJ somehow managed it?

Who knows? Maybe, there is a chance. Western Foreland [copper] is a BIG ACREAGE with some drilling. It is said the price is $2bn per IC? Other majors are also keen on Western Foreland per articles.

Just to make something clear.
When I came to this forum, there was ONLY CAVEAT EMPTOR, ANDREW 444, CAPTAIN BOB [at time] and another 1 or two more who dont post now and may have left.

They were talking about all the projects and I had NO IDEA what they were referring to.
All I did was read page 1 on the website about the projects and that was it. I did not look at pictures from the gallery etc they were talking about.

I told the group that I was HERE in XTR for Colin Bird*s RACECOURSE. I saw it by change on Twitter and followed it up by LISTENING to the COLIN BIRD INTERVIEW on BUSHRANGER in DEC 2020 wherein, he said he was going to DRILL DEEP HOLES LIKE "GOOD O*LE DAYS OF SOLGOLD."

I immediately jumped at the WORD like "GOOD O*LE DAYS OF SOLGOLD" given I started on these forums from days of first starting off on their new project, Alpala at Cascabel.

So, I have followed SUCH DRILLS BEFORE from day 1 todate. So, I have been round the block as to what I am looking at or for.

Just so you understand howezap.

What I mentioned is just news about the copper industry and has nothing to do with XTR at Racecourse. Its just good to know that BHP is looking for big province style copper and maybe associated metals. If BHP is looking at other Tier 1*, they are not telling us before hand and one will know when the FT gets to know.

So, just to make clear. I have been on forums before and sometimes, people think any mention of industry news detracts from their beloved XTR Bushranger. I have been on forums where people said they will die with the CEO. The minute the sp shakes like before, these die-hards have gone. For me, I will follow XTR Bushranger to the very end just I follow Solgold todate.
Its part of the learning curve for porphyries.

Thank you for the post to me. That is the summation of a quote from the FT etc that covered the BHP story of wanting to buy into DRC, next to Kamoa-Kakula at West Foreland [both owned by Ivanhoe of Robert Friedland fame.]. BHP, is the NO 1 listed miner. They do what they want.
I would suggest you read all the articles on BHP and West Foreland if you are interested and these are DIRECT VERBATIM from Henry, CEO of BHP that they are moving onto high risk jurisdiction. All the articles say this is a move from the FORMER stance of safe Tier 1 jurisdictions. I mentioned it as it was industry news as to what was happening in the copper world.

If you are going to the London Evening with Colin Bird, CEO of XTR, you can address this to him. Unless he tells you that BHP has communicated with us, then BHP has nothing to do with Racecourse at this time. Last night, I read further on DRC-it seems that cobalt is going to be mined from the DRC to supply the EV, green energy etc and China will process it in the DRC. I recall that Kamoa-Kakula had some cobalt in the copper but I have to re-check.
So, we have to wait to see what is the DRC about in the coming days. Or better still, email Henry if you are a BHP shareholder to tell him about XTR Bushranger.

I went to another forum just to keep up with what*s going on and I see XTR mentioned. So, if norm, it will get so busy, it will be like the Tower of Babel. Everyone will be talking and in the end, no one knows what is going on.

Riz29 kindly put up COLIN BIRD*S LATEST INTERVIEW LINK and what he said .What was posted does not appear to be the same thing? Hence, why important to POST VERBATIM " " and what one thinks Mr Bird is saying. Somehow, it gets all merged into 1 ie verbatim and views and what one thinks he is saying.

Worse still, many CANT LISTEN TO THE INTERVIEWS now with having to register etc.

From what I heard, the last part is COLIN BIRD HOPES TO GO TO THE SOUTHERN PART.

For the avoidance of doubt
All the stories that I have cited have NOTHING to do with XTR Racecourse.
They are LEGACY deposits that have lain there for ages and ages due to lack of investment given bankers were once not even keen to lend to finance lithium.

Its something known. However, due to the supply shortages of EV metal like lithium, investment has eased either via JV*s or M & A exit.

Mr Bird himself has stated in an interview that if big enough, they will MINE it themselves.
He gave the idea that he could get the MONEY at this time given Racecourse is mainly copper.
So, with a hedge, Mr Bird is in a stronger position if he can show the majors he can develop if needs be. This is standard play. This was discussed before on this forum and everyone agree it is standard.

4MT - Mr Bird said in many interviews he want to locate the 4Mt and SELL, NO JV.

Someone said that is still the PLAN except that the target has gone to 1bn. I havent listened to the last few interviews. So, I am only going on what others say.

My mind is still on the 4mt exist and Cornford did the M & A price in his last article some time ago. So, that has stuck in my mind for my own exit. Why? If it is SOLD, then we all exit as Racecourse has gone + Footrot which is part of the licence.

So, 1bn is fine but many like to grumble if money is spent so it is always something that has to be managed by Mr Bird.

Different people want different things. I dont make the decision but I make my own decision. A investor who was once listed in the Times 500 Rich List invested 6% in Greatland. His name was in all the declarations and even on the largest shareholder list.

I think he had advisers and he had a get out price given it runs into millions.

I dont think he wanted to wait to the end where he saw the mine come to fruition at first pour.
Even Gervaise Heddle said in the middle of his tenure that someone will take over once it was going to be at the stage where it looked like it was going to be a mine at Havieron. Its just personal choice and how long one can devote one*s life to.

This investor has gone into OIL. i think he has advisors. This was a 2nd early strike for him also but not fab but it was a recovery place.

So, that is something one has to take on board. So, each one will plan their own investing horizon according to their own plans and money situation

but BHP*s reported move to buy in the DRC at West Foreland from Robert Friedland has stunned the mining world. However, Henry the CEO said they are willing to take more risk.

DONLIN is a big project with a J V with Barrick Gold but they still have cleared all the required
permits yet from recall. I havent checked for a while.

XTR- NO INFERENCE INTENDED.
XTR will SELL on its OWN MERITS.
Majors will want 1bn for starters so maybe Mr Bird is aware of that given he never said so in the beginning when I arrived at Christmas 2020 via his first interview.
Depends which majors. BHP may be interested if XTR can fall into the higher grade section which there should be if the same fluid flowed down the Lachlan Fold. Corbetts confirmed that -XTR copper expert. YES, I SAY DEFINATELY,IF XTR CAN FIND A CADIA-RIDGEWAY which is 50moz gold or equivalent in copper if copper is more than gold kinda thing.

Right now, Mr Bird hasnt said anything past the 1bn. He used to say 4Mt from the beginning. Dave85 wrote his 4 post thesis and told us that even 2mt XTR wont find. Now its 1bn at the moment.

If it is short of Cadia-Ridgeway, then the majors will be ranked lower than NO1 who wants province scale.

It will be Rio, Newcrest, Chinese [North Parkes is owned by the Chinese], AA and so forth as they are looking for copper. If the grade is constant which was said by Straits, the last owner to Tooday, then it just needs SCALE.

That is reality.

I cite this because on one forum which I wont name, one poster keeps posting that their DEPOSIT IS GOING TO BE BID FOR IN A BIDDING WAR. Of course, who dares tell them that BIDDING WARS WENT OUT OF FASHION. The investment community has warned majors not to go back to the days of overpaying for deposits via bidding wars and to keep a TIGHT FISCAL
hand on the treasury, MAINTAIN GOOD DIVIDENDS and profits-cash flow. REALITY, I am afraid.

Ask Mr Bird, its NOT PRICE SENSITIVE - EVERYONE KNOWS.

Donlin by the way is a JV with Barrick gold-they have not cleared regulatory permits yet but I havent checked lately.

Tempakan-the Moratorium on Mining has been repealed just this year. It is open-mining.
The Philippines govt wants 5 big ticket potential deposits to be mine ie Silangan, KingKing, Tempakan and another one. Tempakan is no longer owned by a major. It will require US$5-6bn to develop. The govt is true to its word and there has been NO REFUSAL for licence refusals as far as I am aware. Mr Bird*s MANKAYAN is due to be listed in Australia via a new IPO. Oh, Mankayans - the licence renewal is 11 Nov 2021 so one will know shortly. The govt NEEDS MONEY from mining due to the COVID fall-out in the economy. International investors are talking to govt or rather govt is talking to them - not pi*s. Ah, NO indigenous problems, its environmentalists. Yeah, Mindanao could be having some ...but that is way South. The rest of the sophisticated live in Manila and especially MAKATI, an upmarket biz area etc. Some are so swish that they look like some American/Western places. Chinese money has been pouring in. Newcrest has an office - I have not checked the rest of the majors. Mr Bird*s Mankayan was due to be SOLD to GOLDFIELDS for US$70m having paid US$10m non-returnable. This was under the old CEO. He was negotiating etc when he passed away. Mankayan and the next door Far East together make a world class deposit, much bigger than the current Racecourse. Last I updated Edison*s value in situ was US$48bn vs US$12bn [Edison]. The JORC code has been updated to 2012 from 2004. That was where the gold is some 9.8moz, 20moz silver and 4mt copper from recall. I have to re-check on the copper. Yeah, this is Mr Bird*s MANKAYAN. How much is US$48bn .Cascabel has a value in the ground at US$130bn ranked No 2 in the world after No 1 Kamoa-Kakual {shown on the Solgold presentation map and mark]. Solgold-ah, the govt also has changed and a banker is running the country. Lasso wants 5 mega projects to start in 2025 which includes Cascabel-Solgold. AA is represented, Gina Rinehart and so forth including a Chinese mine, Mirando. Solaries *s Warintza, was discovered by the legendary David Lovell, Hall of Fame who discovered ESCONDIDA, the legendary mine. Solaries*s mkt cap is huge into 3 digit millions like Solgold. BHP has a JV with an explorer there from recall. Newcrest also has a JV with Cornerstone. Dr Rohlach and Norris, the original Solgold Geo & CEO are now in Sun Metal and they are hitting depth and typical grades for that part of the world. Solgold will save some US$3bn because they dont have to set up a salination plant for water, power etc-Mather*s famous quote. Have a look, its not that far from Quito with sealed road. Ecuador is the LAST of the relatively unexplored Andes copper range -NM*s famous quote and its like walking into early Chile, he says. ITS A NEW COPPER PROVINCE - I am waiting to see whether Mather realises his dream/aspiration to be the NEXT COPPER MAJOR -this is on the landing page and in every presentation etc.

Let*s start with what may be possible. Majors consider Tier 1 as the ideal start. That*s why I cited the latest broker note for BODA. They were quite astute to buy into 2 small ASX explorers which the broker was quite stunned to find that they are worth A$78m mark-to-market vs Alkane*s mkt cap of some $450m region ++. That is a bit unusual. So, if they are stuck for money, they have been speculating and can sell.

Majors have taken a new stance for some yrs now. One cant miss the info and that is majors are exercising great restraint on spending ie competitive bidding. Why? They want to continue to pay dividends that in turn will keep their jobs etc. Also, the investment industry was not pleased at the last cycle a long time ago where they overpaid by bidding wars. Now, their plan is to explore and get in early per BHP. To this end, they went into a JV with a junior co to explore in the NT for copper where the grades are much higher than the lower-modest grades. BHP has also JV*ed in Ecuador but not in any big way. So, this entry into DRC stunned the market but it is only that the grades are good near Kamoa-Kakula and province scale. Majors in general play hard ball because they are run by money men and naturally they know all about conserving wonga. Hence, why for many co*s they must SURVIVE [not talking about XTR here]. Many deposits of mega size are ON THE BENCH like Tampakan that will need US$5-6 billion. Seabridge has a mega deposit also. DONLIN is another mega gold project. I looked up the TOP 10 BIGGEST GREENFIELD COPPER & GOLD DEPOSITS AND MANY ARE NOT DEVELOPED. Why?
Lack of investment and Glencore*s CEO said they will REQUIRE COPPER AT US$15,000. Dont forget the major knows that a junior explorers are not flush with cash. CRUX...said so ie that majors can wait but junior explorers cant. The only way to survive like Seabridge is just go slow and try to just raise money to keep going, hence why many of these MEGA RANKED PROJECTS are on the bench. If desperate and if money cant be obtained then, like Sirius Minerals, they go for cheap once they are close to BK. So, one has to always juxtaposition between GETTING VALUE and SURVIVING. I am not talking of XTR here but this is the main principle. Look at Kun Marie which is quite a big project but it is nickel laterite and not as suitable for EV*s. Look at all the mega iron ore projects like Zioc. All lying forelorn. So, with that in mind, one has to always THINK REALISTICALLY KNOW THAT ITS TOUGH OUT THERE. One stumble and that is it. Otherwise, there would have been MORE MAJORS coming up but there isnt. I have seen so many co*s gone over the years - all the old timers know which are the co*s. So, just sharing as to why after seeing so much over the years, one now knows things INSIDE OUT or at least keep up with the tough games. Best wishes. Not talking about XTR in particular.

Re: Red Chris which a major bought at the LAST HR TO BANKRUPTCY due to not being able to pay the BONDS.
They drilled and then went to production using bonds. Well, mining is not always in time. Once bond holders are not paid, they dont wait around. GKP was also in a similar situation but they just managed to escape.

When the major bought Red Chris, they managed to get value as they explored further and ENHANCE the resource which they knew was the potential or further potential.

So, anyone in these BIG MEGA PROJECTS must take that into a/c. Case in point is Sirius Minerals.

That*s all from me but that is the experience any fund manager know and I am not surprised that SteveM does not want to lick the crumbs off a crisp packet. I am sure he knows what I am saying.

As I posted up before, majors like 1Bt at the very minimum depending on the gradation of the major. The top major BHP wants to get in on PROVINCE SCALE whether oil or whatever that is their known pattern.

If one reaches 1Bt, it can go to 2.5 BT easily or minimum 2bn. THAT IS COMMONLY KNOWN.
If that has been decided, then I leave it to Mr Bird to execute. I did sense that you would not welcome my view.

However, in my stance, do remember this into the future as we come along relating to what you said: "JUST TO SAVE A FEW MILLION EXPENDITURE"...a quick sale "WOULD P...S ME OFF."

I was aware my view would not find your favour but try to understand that I have been with Solgold for a long time ie at the inception of the start of Alpala todate. Therefore, I know everything inside out because I keep up todate. From the last count, the DRILLING HAS COST US$178M but I have not KEPT up with the latest a/c*s yet. Nick Mather had to do a deal to sell NSR at to get US$50m in the 1st tranche and later another US$50m to finish the PFS.
So, do understand that whilst this is NOT as bad in NSW, it will still cost a lot. An Australian mining supervisor earns A$200k and wages are high. So, we are NOT TALKING of a few couple of millions. Every project of such scale will require a lot of money. I dont need to cite other details as Nick Mather*s co is the case study. N.Mather has to spend time go round and round so that the can present Cascabel to the investment industry so that they would SUPPORT the funding thus far etc. I noticed he has grown weary from all that travelling etc. Robert Friedland is a more canny figure as he sold 50% to the Chinese in order that Kamoa-Kakula can be financed with Chinese money. He sold it for US$400m at the time and N.Mather was asked by Mining Journal if he would consider a similar Friedland move. He SAID NOOOOO WAY. Today, Friedland is said to be negotiating with BHP TO SELL THE NEXT DOOR EXPLORATION licence with some drilling done reported to be US$2bn. Brillo. Sell a sprat to get a fish.

Oh, you need to hear this. The publisher didnt want to PAY her royalties as he said her book was "rubbish." She then pointed out the agreement and it was said it was "SO TIGHTLY" drafted legally, the publisher had to pay given all she promised was X no of pages and X no of words, period.!!! LoL
So, LEGAL DRAFTING AND FINE PRINT is the point here.

This can only be answered by Mr Bird who has a copy of the legal agreement.
As far as legals go, even a C O M M A can change the meaning.
One lady was very crafty in legal drafting. She was going to sell a book to a big publisher in the State. In order not to be caught out like others, SHE DRAFTED that she only needed to produce X NO OF WORDS & X NO OF PAGES period!! LoL, she got the better of the publisher.

Let me put it to you BEFORE THE LONDON EVENING WITH COLIN BIRD - all shareholders these days SEEK AN E X I T STRATEGY. One does not CARE whether it is a JV or SALE which ever produces an exit strategy.

Why? One does NOT want to spend a lot of money. Case study? Havieron. They drilled 9 holes in 2 drilling stages [5 and 4 holes]. Even then, the co had to raise 2x of £2.4m and a bit more earlier. Everyone said NO, nothing is going to happen when there are only 9 holes drilled. Others said NO GOOD WITHOUT PFS, BFS etc.

One morning, EVERYONE WOKE UP TO THE JV NEWS BY NEWCREST.

Then, snapped the share price upwards. The rest is history.

You have to understand that one has to WATCH TREASURY and to counter-balance this with an EXIT that will PAY A RETURN TO SHAREHOLDERS that is X times. Not dreaming of pies in the sky unless one goes all the way to Cadia-Ridgeway type of thing?

Maybe I have a Asset-stripping accountant mind. However, it depends on what Mr Bird wants to do. I do know Mr Bird is not like some geologist who CLING ON TO EVERY LICENCE like its their children and refuse to let any go even if they are a drain and has absolutely no prospect.

That is my mind-set as I have no time to waste mentality.

Yes, I did see the valuation part and JORC Code relating to MKT VALUE.

However, it is a subject to ask Mr Colin Bird on 14 Oct 2021 in London.
Why?
Mr Bird will have the LEGAL AGREEMENT.
There are 2 parts to it.
Therein, it could be a LEGAL subtlety in that "IDENTIFICATION" [x2 mentioned] & "DISCOVERY" [1] could mean that this is the THRESHOLD FOR legal reporting to AA. There may be more sub-clauses of which I am not privy to. However, if my reading is correct, then XTR may not have
to spend that money to DO A JORC.

That*s my thinking. Why pay for a JORC [updated] if the buyer [buy-back] is not interested?
That will give some breathing space. That would be how I would have drafted the legal agreement. However, subject to ALL THE SMALL PRINT, one has to ask Mr Bird for clarification.

Last time we converse on a forum was moons ago. You said that the MM offered you a price but you hesitated and the rest is history. So, are you now more comfortable to now get in?

I was testing the live price earlier a few minutes ago. I found that the MM*s wanted to buy more than the threshold. So, there was LIQUIDITY to sell.

On the other hand, one could only BUY a certain quantity. So, one is cognisant that supply is rather tight so that there is allocation.

Now, PROVEN to be correct as the price to SELL has jumped [LIVE price] and to BUY almost the same as earlier. So, the SPREAD is now narrow with to sell in a vantage point.

I am not allowed to give live price. However, I personally find that TESTING is quite useful

I just chanced on this and whilst a older article, nevertheless, I noticed it is TO THE FRONT OF RIO*S WINU. ------POW is to the WEST of Winu.--------- I said that Rio did not look to the back of their licence.
The article states companies as in PLURAL so more majors are interested in the LICENCES neaer Winu. Have a look at the MAP to see where St George is vs Rio*s WINU.
