Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
I am more positive based on the decicion not to build in Roddickton, but from the interview with local radio there seems ot be a long way off before they get anything up and running and that is a concern, especially how do they manage for funds in the mean time.
The province is under snow and ice for 5 moths of the year so cinstruction is difficult and if you dont hit your schedule you are screweed.
There is a simple way to get up and running very quickly but nobody seems to be even lokking into that, so I will wait to see what happens.
Anyway I have my wn media interview in 30 mins so I have to get ready for that, and I hate public speaking. Dont worry not AEG related. ;-)
The plant needs to be built by the highway at Bishops Falls and not in Botwood just because of logistics issues alone, which means you have quick turn around of your trucks and it can mean the difference of getting 3 loads a shift instead of just 2. per truck. There is a good 100 acre site just off the highway and at the end of the old tracks which is ideal.
Bishops Falls is also center between Sextons sawmill and Corner Brook, so easy to swop loads of saw logs fpr pulp logs and mill waste. It will keep Kevin Sexton happy and AEG exchanges high value logs for the material it actuall needs.
Zee I didnt have a dig at Ukraine, I just agreed with you that it was run by crooks. If you know Ukraine then you know that it is true.
Now now Zee play nice, dont be bitchy. One would have thought you would apreciate a little bit of local insight from some one who has actually been and worked there and not just seen it on a google map.
I have always said Rodickton was a totally unsuitable site for many reasons, You guys should be very very happy indeed it is now Hawkes Bay. My estimation of Spinks has increased considerably.
Apart from the logistics and energy perspective Hawkes bay is far more politiacallyacceptable than the Holson site as both Mitchelmore and Ball are on record as saying that no more government money should go to the Holson plant.
Hmm interesting, be happy at that news at least.
Don't forget he said 25% of the annual allocation was to go to the local sawmills, and the so it is not 100k a year but 75k
Nice to hear Bernice again, she is a lovely lady.
Spinks was very vague, and doesnt seem to have a work site or a logistics plan at the moment, but one thing was sure there is a long slow ramp up before production, and a lot less timber than people have been talking about, and AEG are really going to struggle to find local harvesters who have the man power and equipment to bring in the timber.
Holson has been shut down now for 8 years and even then local crews were struggling with dilapidated old equipment because they couldnt get credit to buy anything else. Not an encouraging broadcast.
Zee, for once we agree, the industry in Ukraine is run by crooks. ;-)
Zee, you don't really expect to be me to divulge confidential information /sources like that do you? Put it this way have I been wrong yet? Why don't you do your own research and find out for yourself
Gery Byrne is a good man, and one of the most able new politicians in the province. Upset him at your peril.
If you do your DD you will find both Chris Mitchelmore and the premier ON RECORD saying Holson/Roddickton should get no more government money.
So if AEG or rather Timberlands Newfoundland are not getting financial support from the government they need to raise the funding from private investors like yourself, or from institutions who will have first dibs on any assets if it all goes wrong. So be warned.
The company already is in serious debt and will need to raise at least a $100 million I suspect at least $20-30 million of that for infrastructure and material handling alone.
The cost of a new sawmill will be in the region of $30 -50 million, the one at Roddickton is scrap and would fail every single HSE law in the UK.
Working capital for the 1st year will be substantial and I would not like to give any guesses on that for now.
So dissolution is inevitable and if you had done your DD on the main characters in this you would have found this is the norm, and it is what I tried to tell you when I first started posting a year ago.
Use of sock puppets. It is not unknown for companies to use sock puppets on chat sites like this to encourage people to buy especially when the prices drop. You can normally pick out who they are, they tend ot be the highest poster and always positive and encouraging and will savagely attack and negative posters to put them off posting or discredit them. Does this ring any bells??
I have been attacked on here which doesnt bother me and it can be amusing, but my attackers have not denied my industry and local knowledge, and therefore what I post should be at least given some serious consideration and people are more than welcome to do their own investigation to verify what I post.
The main characters in this company have a history of share dissolution and moving shares between companies for personal gain. Though my personal knowledge and contacts in the industry are mostly US and Canadian, I also have contacts and friends in Ukraine. I wont divulge anymore on that, but the information I have received appears genuine and verifiable.
Very badly handled no matter what happened. It is less than a year to the next general election in Newfoundland, there should have been a joint press statement on the steps of the parliament building which would have given maximum GOOD publicity for all concerned. No matter which way you look at this AEG has caused embarrassment to the man who is tipped as the next premier of the province, and the locals have a long memory and hold a grudge.
Somehow I dont think I need to, I think you are working for AEG, only an AEG stooge would post so much BS on here.
Of course, what DrM thinks should happen is gospel and no other opinions matter, after all, he is THE expert in uh, what are you an expert in exactly?
2681 POSTS, WOW, you really must know your stuff and be the world's expert on this.
I know the product but the product is not EVERYTHING. As investors, you guys need to know what you are investing in and it is NOT JUST THE PRODUCT, any PROFESSIONAL investor will tell you that. The naivete and ignorance on here is exasperating.
It is your money, do your due diligence or get someone who knows what they are doing do it for you.
A totally discredited article from a corrupt journalist. I have never even been to Cape Breton or British Columbia, and the information from Georgia was hilarious, he even had the wrong place and the wrong company name.
We have already established that I am NOT from Newfoundland or is your memory failing you. At least I have been and lived there, I dont think you could find it on a map even if it was circled with a big red felt tip pen.
Interesting how you come up with personal attacks just because I disagree with you and show you up for your lack of industry knowledge, knowledge of the province and your pitiful business sense.
I think your bleating 'BUT IT IS COAL SWITCH' and nothing else of value, your wild valuations are a joke and it all just shows your ignorance. You certainly know nothing about the industry, projects or Newfoundland.
I think you are a paid for sock puppet to promote the company and to quash any negative postsers, go on admit it.
I assure you I have done my DD, and I have access to information from numerous sources, especially in Ukraine not just Newfoundland. The process is one thing but is only one part of a business model, and as any good project manager will tell you need the whole to succeed not just one part.
Yes there is potential for AEG in the province and I have learned from my mistakes for dealing with the government there, and like AEG I was directed to where THEY wanted me to be not what was best for the business.
Chris Mitchelmore is the local MHA and the minister for rural development so he has a vested interest in pushing the Northern Peninsular, especially as there is an election coming up in the not too distant future.
In my humble opinion, the best way forward would be to work with Krugers and Burton cove as a three-legged stool. Kruger gets pulp wood, Burton Cove lumber and AEG the rest. This is the most efficient way, and Krugers are the bedrock of the timber industry and the government will do anything to prop them up because if they go the whole industry goes. I did do my DD and spent a lot of time and money in the province so I KNOW these things from 1st hand and actual experience on the ground. What DD have you done??
Deepestblue. You are right, if you post anything not positive you are attacked by Zeetruth or DrM who I am beginning to think are possible company sock puppets due to their aggressive behavior and lack of common sense.
AEG will now have to raise a serious amount of money for Newfoundland, at least 5-10 million for storage and material handling alone, on top of any processing facility. Roddickton site is badly situated and has zero assets of any real value. except for an old building. Don't forget we were looking at the site ourselves and I personally visited it and did an initial survey. The sawmill is just scrap, the pellet plant equipment is old second-hand kit and badly laid out. Neither bagging line works, nor does the kiln. Ted Lewis the owner of Holson owes the government well over $10 million and any sale of the site the funds would have to go back to the government so he wanted well over $10 mill just to break even.
It means a huge amount of money to replace the sawmill and just to get a crew to rip out and clean the site will be expensive. After 48 years in projects, I can hand on heart tell you it is cheaper, quicker and easier to build from scratch than try to modify existing plant and end up with a far from an efficient design if you started from scratch.
No doubt I will once again be attacked for saying this but even they cant deny I have the local knowledge and industry experience to back up my posts.
Zee I have been on projects for over 48 years now, and I have lost count of them all, some have been exceedingly good, and some not so good. You cant win them all but at least I am out there doing, what do you do or have you done?
Bezos, Jobs, Gates et al had failed projects it is not a big deal as long as you learn from them.
It is fine saying that AEG now has timber allocations but at what price and under what conditions or dont you think that matters? I said they would get a deal, but like Mays Brexit deal it doesnt mean its good until you see the small print, even you must understand that.
Your ignorance and lack of business acumen has no limits DrM
I refer you all to my earlier email of this morning at 00.52. I am pleased for you all but we still dont know the terms and conditions as yet but a good time for a small celebration.
Lumberton NC looks a good possible site and is within easy reach of Wilmington, so could do well. However, I would love to know the details of any contracts before I say more.
Anyway enjoy today, there should be quite a jump in the share price today and tomorrow
