During main session use algos to supress any rise / get the price lower then having done that mop up as many as possible in the closing auction from holders getting more and more peed off

....as you say always seem to happen when volumes are low in the main session

You cant really read support into closing UTs as its just the price where the most sell orders could be matched against corresponding buys. ie yesterday was 1.8m at 254.9 a little lower than the closing bid

Always seems to be decent volume though these days....perhaps its where senor Carlos hoovers up a few more shares?

As for this morning, seems pointless commenting on price action if they are just going to take down the price later regardless of oil price, overall markets, stars in or out of alignment etc

Yet another late pullback when the Brent price did nothing to justify it really. People probably didnt like the latest made up figures re inventory builds

I could just about see Goldmans trying to tank the price to help their shorting mates, but dunno if they would do it to assist Carlos. Anything is possible....maybe he has other ties to them

No guarantee of course, but its either large holders like Mr.Slim or shorts closing. I genuinely thought it was the shorts option....perhaps i was wrong. Who knows?

That 4p drop was only against the closing UT from last night (which was a good one for a change). Obviously makes little difference first thing next morning

Current bid of 261.9 is actually 0.4p up against the closing bid last night

The trouble is we are never likely to know unless its a major holder +/- their stake (ie Senor Slim) and we get an RNS

Personally I think it reflects the process of a short closing. I have no proof other than it would match my expectations when the price has knee jerked lower following a dodgy sellrec. Trouble is, notifiable shorts are almost non-existent but someone could be short up to 3.85m shares and not have to declare......Last week we had a matched pair of trades v close to that figure

When I posted FTSE was up 50 odd points and oil was little changed around $78.20. I certainly agreet with your struggle to see how our deal is being valued less and less each day

Unfortunately the gain they are currently indicating is a bit of an illusion. We are only up 3.4p against last nights abysmal closing auction. Real price move is only +0.5p against closing bid price

Nitro - just because there are lots more shares doesnt automatically mean there is dilution

Shares are being issued at above market price, and you have to look at the value of assets being acquired

Such is the power of mega institutions like Goldman Sachs that their mere utterances move markets and shares. The very best strategies and TA get blown out of the water by recommendations that become self-fulfilling prophecies

I still firmly believe that this whole scenario has been engineered to allow short hedge funds that were caught by the deal news, a less painful exit. Just shows why the average investor is reluctant to hold UK shares for a long period of time : even the best of news gets reversed
