Well I know SETS is a match up between buyers and sellers, but the bid is getting constantly smacked down by AT trades.

Is this how they accomodate US buyers? If so, where do the shares come from to hit the bid?

Given that the share price has tanked after results and the investor day, what do we think has caused all the selling?

1. People disappointed with the figures and/or the story? 4
2. US investors will only enter at a lower price....so hey presto the price gets smacked down?
3. Generally crap markets?
4. Something Im blissfully unaware of?

Genuinely mystified as to the extent of the selling....

Looks to me like their overal holding (shares and swaps) dropped by 0.03%

....our US friends and their sellbots are doing their damndest to get us into the red regardless of the Brent price holding up okay

Hopefully the new round of buybacks will stop them having it so easy day after day

Well so far theyve failed to smash the share price lower, but lets see what our US 'friends' decide to do around 1:30. Encouraging though, as HBR are managing to hold steady on a down day in the markets

We need to remember that there have been no share buybacks going on in the last few weeks. When they are re-instated, we should hopefully see some pushback against the endless algo-selling from the USA

There are likely plenty of short holdings lurking below the 0.5% disclosure threshold (and have been for ages)

More likely Citadel went over the limit (or the reduction in shares in issue) meant their position went over the .5% limit

Take away the artificial prop of the share buybacks and this is what you get. Shorters have got a virtually free run as sentiment has turned really sour and theres bugger all buying pressure

Management will say they have improved EPS and divi yield but that seems to mean bugger all against american selling and a goverment intent of driving north sea investment and jobs into the floor

(Yes I know you cant rely on computerised allocation of buys/sells but.....)

Was surprised that there are over 600k more buys than sells today, explained by the bulk of the difference being O trades which dont move the price. The real damage is being done by the computers constantly selling small packets of shares which do affect the price. Whether this is shorters or US sellers I have no effin clue any more

I totally agree - thats why I dont regard the BoA holding as 'genuine'. The swaps are just a mechanism by which HBR get screwed

You can almost set your watch to the afternoon fall in the share price. The yanks seem to enjoy the oil price down, and there seem to be plenty of US sellers about to drag HBR lower

Its just Bank of America adjusting their swaps position. Quite a few get settled this month so theyve been replaced

Not really.....was expecting a downwards drift today as there is not the buying from the buybacks to oppose the constant drip-fed selling of small packets of shares we have seen for weeks/months

Wow...all those times ive read these damn RNSs and it never sunk in that the buyback was $ not £

Dont you mean 09/03 for full year results or have I missed something?
Theyve certainly ended the buyback early as I reckon if you took £3.25 as an average buy price you would be nearer the mark and that is only £87.8m

If the buyback is indeed over early that gives us nothing to push back against the never ending algo trades that seem intent on forever pushing us lower

Add up the number shares mentioned in each RNS. It comes to exactly 2m which is the number EIG announed they would be selling for tax related reasons

The vast majority of the BoA holding is via Cash Settled Swaps. I believe there were swaps involving around 27m shares with settlement dates in January, and looking ahead to February it looks like 23.6m

Could it be that the HBR price is being held in a range to enable these swaps to be settled on advantageous terms?

Any merit in going for TLW? I know there exploration results have been duff recently but they have relatively low mcap, albeit with $2bn debt

60k+ per day production in a foreign jurisidiction and their merger with Capricorn seems to have been pulled.

Well Brent is now over $87 and yet again HBR has lost its early gains. I think HM Govt have ruined investor confidence in the North Sea
