Thought we might have had a little run up this morning what with Brent improving after close yesterday and Dow getting frisky

Well the general market having a good day but poor old HBR not joining in and volume is a pitiful 130k. Only thing happening is probably buyback shares being provided by the sell bots

Beginning to think we are at a price that management are very happy to buy back at, but it provides no feel-good factor currently for shareholders

I'd wager there are plenty of other short positions hovering below the 0.5% mark

...and the maths supports this theory

0.51% of say 819m shares = circa 4.177m shares

Shares in issue at start of buyback was 836.07m so their short would have been 0.49996% ie magically below the limit for disclosure (until now)

Just possible that their short has stayed the same, but the reduced number of shares in issue has pushed their % up?

Its not indicated as an increase on the short-tracker site

I think you are probably right.....whoever is running these damn sell-bots trading those small packets of shares just will not let the price rise no matter what good news might be released

Beginning to think management are happy to let this happen while the buyback is in progress. Im just puzzled as to why the daily amount seems to be limited to 510k - they were buying 590k when the price was in the 280s

Is the amount bought backl dictated by some limit? Surely you would buy more if the price drops if you believe it is more undervalkued?

They say that FCF was loaded toward the 1st quarter and there are tax and capital spending coming up. Wouldnt surprise me to see net debt rise a bit in the next quarter

.....or in that example, placing them with say Lombard at 6p?

Certainly needs the SP to get a move on in order to make the exercise worthwhile! (Unless hes wealthy enough to pay for the 12m shares himself).

Depending on what his personal finances are like and what level the SP is at, he could probably sell a chunk of the 4.4p shares at say 6p to pay for what remains?

ie 12m @ 4.41 = £529k which could be covered by selling 8.8m @ 6p - leaving rest as freebies

Hopefully that might mean they would try to get the damn share price up.....

At its peak they were buying back 590k a day when share price was 280+. Now buying back only 510k when pricce is 40p lower, which seems dumb.

Next week should the buyback pass the 25% complete mark

I dont doubt that your theory of US investors being behind the downward pressure has validity, however the hedging in previous years was probably linked to the provision of the huge debt facilities that used to exist

Hopefully as debt is almost eliminated over the course of this year, management will not be forced into hedging they may not want

Aside from BoA (swaps) and EIG (tax related) weve had no meaningfui holdings RNSs since Marshfield Advisers went below 3% with their 25m shares at the beginning of February

Shareholders dont get paid until May but any shares held via spreadbet get their account adjusted on ex-div day (or at least IG do)

I certainly havent been paid out on my shares held on trading or SIPP accounts
