I imagine a world where people who have absolutely no idea how dividends cause an ex div fall but have no outcome on payment days some months later can come on here and give advice about the price falling "inter div".
THank you Compound for that brilliant analysis. It is nice to see that other than the usual argumentum ad hominem carp from the master self-appointed bully Dan. I am not an expert Dan nor do I propose to think I am , I have over 100k shares (numerical not value) so it is interesting to me to think about whether to "lose the divi" to gain more in the next couple of days. I am also fairly lazy and will probably take the bigger than expected hit tomorrow and sit tight.
As Cowley said to Doyle in an episode of the Professionals when Body hoped the plan would go well. " Hope Body, Hope is for the poor and the unemployed"
Can we stop the nonsense about hoping the fall won't be bigger than the x-Div. IT WILL BE
My problem Mr Dan is you. You are the self-appointed arbiter of all things good and bad on here. You actually know very little. Your poor wife seeing you squander the family money on Vodafone at much higher prices than now must be distraught. Yet you still think you know what you are talking about despite being on massive losses. Do yourself a favour, stop the bullying and show a little humility. LMAO AT YOUR COMMENT ABOUT THE XD FALL OF 3.7P
"Lets just hope the ex divi day fall isn't too bad?" Quote of the day that one. In fact as is usual the fall in the SP on going ex d will be hugely more than 3.7p ( or is it 3.8?) to suggest otherwise is naive. If the SP continues to rise over the coming days it will fall well before XD and fall after too as the temp. buyers will have made their 5p or so and ditched.
Mr Mole said profits are down year on year deliberately concealing the fact that last year’s profits were inflated by a one-off gain of around €1bn due to the merger of Vodafone Hutchison Australia and TPG Telecom Limited. When you allow and adjust for that then the underlying profits climbed by about 8%. So stick that in your pipe Mr Mole.
Was it as tediously boring to write that post as it was for me to endure reading it? As you are somewhat intellectually challenged, let me explain. people use spreadsheets to calculate their full dividend amount. The point is you can't put a figure in as of today. I am obviously not so ******ed as to think the number of shares you own affects the declared dividend payment but it does alter the overall total. (just for you you multiply the number of shares you own by the dividend payment amount. There feel better?
Thank you for wanting the last word but it depends how many shares you own, every .1p counts. The point is it is not correct to state as fact what it is. Now you have introduced a pointless post by claiming with 99% certainty which you cannot possibly verify. When we had the Brexit turmoil this rate was changing rapidly/daily. We do not know what political events will unfold that may or may not affect the rate. The only fact is that is it 4.5 Euro cents.
Hi Paul, It is not based on the previous day but is described below as per today's annual report
Dividends
Dividends will continue to be declared in euros and paid in euros, pounds sterling and US dollars, aligning the
Group’s shareholder returns with the primary currency in which we generate free cash flow. The foreign exchange
rate at which future dividends declared in euros will be converted into pounds sterling and US dollars will be
calculated based on the average World Markets Company benchmark rates over the five business days during the
week prior to the payment of the dividend.
The Board has announced an interim dividend per share of 4.50 eurocents (H1 FY21: 4.50 eurocents). The exdividend date for the interim dividend is 25 November 2021 for ordinary shareholders, the record date is 26
November 2021 and the dividend is payable on 4 February 2022. Dividend payments on ordinary shares will be paid
directly into a nominated bank or building society account

Seems a positive reaction
Cheers Compound, I don't think there is any chance it will be as early as 25th November, it is more likely 17/18th December. I have never seen a share go ex d so soon after results. If you look at Vod's history, over middle December would be my bet.
