This is the BOD that can't find someone to be a millionaire for life on free shares, totally useless. I remember how previously there was so much work in preparing a new CEO well in advance when previous ceo's gave it up, here we are 4 months later , zilch, totally useless
As set out in your agreement with us, this increase is the UK Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate of 10.5% (as published in January 2023) to support the rise in our running costs and keep up with increased demand, plus an additional 3.9% to help support the continued investment in our network as we expand coverage
Message to Vodafone , there will be a decrease in demand. Of course the current offers to new customers won't go up so this is a pretty nasty low blow. All you can eat data/calls is a basic commodity now on SIM only, they are making yet another error in hitting loyal customers with this outrageous increase. You also sign a contract for 2 years where this is allowed ie unknown price increases at the time you sign up
The point is that I, a 24 year customer and ex employee could have an amaysim , a toddler vno with 600 employees about 32 quid for suoerb coverage and calls to the uk. My wonderful vod with 100000 employees wanted £360. If they think hiking prixesxwilm work they are mistaken
I am currently in Australia, despite there being a Vodafone network here in Ozz the best the UK offered before I left was was a "£6/day" to use my unlimited calls/data, on a 60 day trip that would be £600 with a min of 1/call per day. Obviously you only incur £6 on days you use it but.... I got a amaysim here for 30 Ozzie dollars about £16.5 which gives me unlimited here for 28 days and allows me to call loads of countries including the UK with unlimited calls/data. Absolutely bonkers and how we are overcharged here in the UK
The board broke the news to senior executives at half-time in the England match so as not to interrupt the game
Was that a joke? Seriously? They also waited for a 2 hour window, wow we are in safe hands when our Board are too wimpish to announce staggering news during a football game. Did they think it would upset the Directors? I mean hardly any are English anyway.
lot of ridiculous comments on here, the fact is Vod is in dire straits, it is so bad they ousted the CEO, there is no imminent bid , just another 6 months of horrendous joyless share price unless someone can turn the business around, that is going to take a long time even it is possible.
I am sorry to inform the conspiracy theorists that there is nothing untoward as to why they got rid of Read. He wad on 4.3 million, Nick, you can stay on your money as a consultant for years if yo uagree to the bid, No says Nick I will go alone Absolute poppy****. There is no bid , just a badly run business
Are you serious? Those words " share price perfromance" this actually translate to 50 BILIION wiped off the market value of the company , of course it is why he gone, he has turned the largest mobile phone company by revenue into a tiny here today gone tomorrow bit player.
THis is stella news, stop carping on about dividend cuts you all sound like remoaners, let's rejoice for a while in the knowledge this man who has destroyed shareholder value and reducued this once proud huge company to a minion player has gone. hip hip hooray
I just had a wee look and all he has said is that Vod is not going up as the FTSE rises but will more than likely go down when the FTSE falls. What exactly has he said that is incorrect? As per the "buy more" when it falls, averaging down continuously is gambling and is just hope and we all know that hope is for the poor and the unemployed
Dan,
When you invest an amount say £250.month into a share save you get an option to buy at a price 20% less than the price of the shares when the scheme starts. The lower the share price the more shares you get for you investment. The scheme has a "start date" so it makes sense for some to wish the shares to keep falling before they embark on the schemes official start date with the initial 20% discount.
fleccy, we are here because we hold vodafone. It keeps going down. I am OBVIOUSLY talming about vodafone. I don't give any thought to the hundreds of time averaging down works. I am taking issue with Mary saying "it works a treat" when it can not have worked a treat with this stock in the last few years. So yeah, I will stop posting because people on here talk a load of carp about "hindsight" and other BS when I am just making a point, My point earlier was Reid get's the big calls wrong and Mary is a BS ramper
"averaging down" might make your break even lower but only works if the share price goes up right? Otherwise if you have been buyng Vod at lower and lower prices your losses are still accumulating as the share price is at a 20 year low.
It is disingenuous to come on here giving the impression "it works a treat" when it can't be can it if you look at the ski slope share price? Pathetic
Taking a revenue cut was a new and novel way for Apple to approach the Telecoms companies. But here this, If I said to you If I generate £100 of revenue to you on condition you give me £20 would you take it? That is more or less money for nothing right? You can take it or give it to a competitor, what would you do?
Nick said this was a red line and refused the deal.
Dan,
N Reid was not CEO but as CFO he called time on the Apple offer and said no. Consequently one of the most successful businesses in the world launched exclusively on O2 and Vod lost a shed load of Corporate business.
HI Dan,
He was CFO at the time I believe and didn't fancy giving Apple a slice of revenue which was a new and previously unseen attempt by a device maker to take a cut.
