BT has said that the CFQD patents are highly relevant to material b, which is believed to be second generation tech which will probably start commercialisation 2025 or after.

With regards to screen production, aside from OLED panels I believe all lcd production is now coming from China, so Samsung must be buying screens in then adding their own QD special sauce. Therefore I would expect companies in China will want an independent source where they can maximise profit.

A contract with some recurring revenue will underpin the value of the company. Anything else just gives short lived highs sold into by better resourced II's.

I do firmly believe it will happen this time around, but projected sales figures for Apple AR suggest revenue will be modest to start with.

Where there is risk IMO is in a couple of years time when a key patent expires, and whether the rest of Nanoco's IP is good enough to remain ahead of competitors as the use of QD's starts to scale in IR sensors alongside display.

So how do you rate their chances of raising cash in the next few months?

They burn through about £5m a year at present, and they've already spent about the half of last years fund raise.

Wasn't aware of the Acer tablet, only the Amazon one (which might have been made by Acer for them).

Whatever it's small volume far removed from the tens of millions of devices shown in the chart that Nanoco threw up in the presentation.

It would be interesting if say the Amazon Fire TV and Sky Glass, which both incorporate QD screens by TCL and TPV respectively migrated to a cad free alternative.

I cannot see any reference to QD's in the laptops you mention. The link you post also mentions a large screen QD-OLED gaming monitor, no doubt using a Samsung display, but no QD's mentioned for the Alienware laptop that I could see.

If Nanoco were using an old graph for a current presentation then that's highly misleading and any figures shown should be taken in that context.

My own thoughts are this time next year we'll be lucky to see anything beyond one product in production, and if reports by pundits are to be believed it'll be very low volume. Things may scale by 2025, but by then a key molecular seeding patent expires and Nanoco will be facing increased competition.

AFAIK these panels will not use QD's. They use tech more akin to the type of OLED display featured in phones, albeit a bit beefed up for an extended lifetime.

Happy to be proved wrong, although if they're coming from Samsung, Nanoco won't see a penny more from those.

One of the graphs in the Nanoco interim presentation puzzled me as it showed a current market for laptop/tablet/phablet display with QD's. I can't recall a single unit currently available with QD's in those categories, anyone else know better?

Amazon had a Fire tablet about ten years ago with cadmium QD's in, but aside from that it's been solely TV's and large computer monitors.

Past US sales only to October 2021 at that. I wonder what kind of figure they're looking at for licensing/supplying to other companies?

For future business, the company remains a speculative bet. They're down from eight or nine customers to five within six months, if that trend continues they'll be down to one or two by the end of the year. Where have those customers gone to, chosen another route, or perhaps they've found another supplier?

I do believe SWIR and infrared sensing in general is due to progress massively in the future, but it remains to be seen how much of that market Nanoco can address, and also whether the patents along with trade secrets have enough legs in them and enough value to create a worthwhile company.

Looks like some of the sensing customers have dropped away.

Regarding the patent's looking at a past copy of their webpage before the deal, the patents hived off seem to be focused on AR11 and AR12 resin and film, and it's doubtful they'd have been of any future value to Nanoco going forward, as they focus solely on dots and leave the film making to others, plus the trend appears to be towards QD inks and individually encapsulated dots. So not overly concerned about that.

I think the reality is that any significant commercial success is at least two and a half to three years away, if it comes at all. I'm not at all confident of significant revenue from any other source other than sensors, going forward.

I'm more inclined to believe Yole than Nanoco's c-suite when it comes to forward looking statements, and Yole reckon 2025, and probably late 2025 before any serious amounts of sales for QD enhanced IR sensors.

This coincides with the expiry of a key molecular seeding patent, and it is a concern where that leaves Nanoco, and I remain unsure of the worth of their other patents.

Commercialisation has slipped again I see. Clearly relying on one order at present, despite all the bluff and bluster of multiple companies.

I wasn't questioning their intelligence, just wondering where or how they would have obtained evidence for such accusations. Has there been a whistleblower, and if so what is their motivation?

Truth will out I'm sure, but in the meantime shareholders seem stuck between a rock and hard place.

Some pretty serious accusations in that letter. Would hope they have evidence to back it all up. Not sure where it will leave them if they cannot, bearing in mind the letter is out in the public domain.

They also said they were always open to a settlement, which came the day before the court case was due to start.

That would be a signed contract, which would trigger an RNS, so I would be surprised if they have anything beyond- "we remain highly confident of commercial orders in CY23".

I expect we'll get updates on progress made with materials, with those little smartie icons. Perhaps a pair of green icons for the 'European customer', or at least a green and yellow.

I still think that the first order will be a sensor for Apple AR, the release of which has been kicked down the road a few times, hence no contract. I originally expected something around this time, because the media was speculating a spring reveal for the AR device. Apple's AR is now expected to get its first showing at the WWDC in June, so a contract is likely to arrive a bit later, assuming it comes at all of course.

I do recall Nanoco saying in the past that their current generation of QD's were a match or better than anything out there.

I suspect someone will mention that they would say that, and that self-praise is no recommendation.

It said in the RNS you can submit questions in advance for the Wednesday presentation. The Tuesday Q and A will be for analysts, but that has always been the case.

I expect it's a blend of many things.
