“ £10m that would help them reach commercialisation much faster.”
How? If it was simply cash holding them back, then spending £33m on a tender offer and buyback would indicate gross mismanagement. It’s the lack of an addressable market that is resulting in a lack of commercialisation. This is partly down to infringement in display, and partly down to delays in the introduction of QD based infrared sensing, all assuming the latter are ever adopted in mass market products.
The latter is still of concern to me, if there is such a large untapped market for such sensors, for STMicro to throw in the towel on QD sensors when they had years of R&D and what looked like a clear lead over competitors seems a very strange move IMO, unless they have something else in play, or have other concerns with their viability that we are currently unaware of.
