Are they trying to scare off shareholders? Have we hit a nerve?
It that why they did the RNS?
Valuations are affected by uncertainty, the time frame of the recovery back to normal has been a problem but it is quickly changing. If a sale was to happen even 6 months from now it could be very different to the bids we got.
Does anyone know what the bids was and if not shouldn't we?
Has some good points, hopefully it will not fall on deaf ears.
In normal circumstances the stay of the appeal would be the best thing to do but in our case puting it on hold benifits Cineplex over shareholds and other unsecured lenders. For Cineplex if the appeal is lost then they will get nothing or very little, if the appleal is upheld they get nothing. For shareholds and other unsecured lenders if the appeal is lost then they will get nothing or very little however if the appleal is won then this will not only up the value of Cineworld but could have made a potential sale much more likely. So for Cineplex the appeal meant very little after the C11 however for shareholds and other unsecured lenders the appeal could have made a huge difference. Am I missing something and if not, should the Judge take this into account in any proposed restructuring with the majority of its lenders, especially given the stay also benefits any Newco??
That's what the article says, maybe Mario has pushed it over??
I think Cineworld should be revalued, I noticed AMC market cap growing fast even with their debt. https://www-yahoo-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.yahoo.com/amphtml/lifestyle/super-mario-bros-movie-pushed-161400474.html?amp_gsa=1&_js_v=a9&usqp=mq331AQIUAKwASCAAgM%3D#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=16821591750555&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.yahoo.com%2Flifestyle%2Fsuper-mario-bros-movie-pushed-161400474.html

"Studio executives and movie theatre owners were practically doing cartwheels over the weekend while shouting, 'Yes!'", says it all really?
The Cineplex lawsuit & Judgement was anchor on share price, ruling out any chance of a RI or additional funding and even though I think Cineworld would have won the appeal it was an uncertainty that scared off any potential buyers. In hindsight it looks like the excessive amount awarded was bad for both companies and you would think that level heads would prevail on a smaller amount but people can be all kinks of stubborn. The shareholders pay the price once again while the main secured lenders should make a bucket load on the recovery now that studios are releasing more movies in the cinemas this year.
They should have made a deal?https://www.orilliamatters.com/national-business/cineplex-doesnt-expect-to-recoup-any-material-amount-of-the-124b-owed-by-cineworld-6841844
I think the drop may be from many who was holding out for the opening announcement to sell and did not expect the recovery stock sp drop at the same time and dragging Cineworld sp down. My guess is a lot will buy back after the 2020 report on Thursday and watch the sp rise over the next couple of months??
