Everyone runs out and buys a heat pump!
Well they do need regular maintenance, some lies peddled on that score and they do breakdown, everything does. So some form of insurance is advisable .
They will not function as well in some dwellings as in others another lie peddled. Depending on the age of the property and its construction type. And Where it is located !
The best are the most expensive, no surprise there, not all heat pumps are equal.
You may need to replace the whole heating system, ripping out radiators and pipe work involving some destructive work /making good in the building.
Heat pumps that take heat from the ground are more effective than those that draw heat from the air.
The location /climate is a factor in the heat pump's effectiveness.
The best homes to have them installed are those that are new and built to the highest insulation standards with the best double/triple glazing . Even existing cavity walls may not be suitable to be insulated .
And they do need electricity, if that goes off your heating goes off.
And the government gives grants etc for a reason !
As they do for EVs because they are so good people need an incentive to buy them !!
If something is brilliant and cheaper people would be queuing up to buy them.
Strange how those that do not or did not trust the government of say Covid etc trust them if some silver is offered .
I remember when North Sea gas was first piped ashore, the GOVERNMENT said gas would be so cheap, well, that promise did not last too long, it lasted until everyone was on it !
