An Aardvark Strudel! A bloody Aardvark!

This habit of arriving online and watching the sp jump around like a jumping bean for half an hour or so, after the market opens, is as fascinating as it is pointless. Yet I cannot break the habit. Now here I am on Saturday and probably Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday too no doubt.

Look back at last night's posts and invariably they are full of green filter boxes interlaced with comments from the non-filtered that don't make any sense but are essentially, "Oh yeah! Well my dad's bigger than your dad, so there!" Quite amusing really.

They are certainly a contrast to the more 'heavy duty' (and factually more valuable posts about drills, geology and corporate musings) but still have a place in my opinion. For example, I live in a town where a local trust is re-furbishing an old canal. It's a fantastic and noble operation and we all stand to benefit from this activity. However, the magazine that comes out fromit to investors is full of stuff like, how many rivets are used in a lock gate and the dimensions of the bridges measured above sea level to a factor of x-23.5. Umm actually what the average Joe wants to know is when we can all paddle down it, how soon can we fish in it and when will a cream tea selling barge be on it?

And here, the elephant in the room is how much MONEY can I make so I can buy a Porsche Armadillo (or whatever it was) and how soon??? :0

Bellers, I hope your dream comes true and the share hits the 12 p mark soon. Having just got back from Portugal only yesterday I am already missing the good feeling that a warm climate and an easy going people instils.

Zoros - too late my friend! Apart from a few k I took out recently to live on and £50 left in Sound, I am 'all in' with GGP. In fact, my pension and my isa are ALL GGP. I totally believe in it as the best investment for my future and that is that.

I know I'm not alone with this decision too. There are several others here in the same boat. Normally, I would consider anyone who had written what I am just writing now to be a reckless nutcase but these are not normal times and these are not' ordinary discoveries'.

I always have my van and a state pension in a few years anyway. :)

I knew there was something stopping me from sleeping: It would appear that GGP has also struck gold at Haverion, according to the banner ad. Is this anywhere near Tefler do you think?

Back in the day, when an ad was published with copy error and the fault lay with the printer/media operator, they could end up getting sued or, at the very least, obliged to offer the client a free ad campaign.

Haha...nice one WelshFalcon. This one doesn't but as soon as we get back we will get the van re-fitted with a mega-dial speedo and a fuel-injected engine. Might get some tree-shake problems but it should hold together at the higher speeds.

We slept in a small car park in an even smaller French village last night. Shouting distance of Boulogne now and then back to England tomorrow.

It would be entirely true to say that this is a modest motorhome powered by a GGP engine sending us ever northwards: We glided through Spain at 8.5p cruising speed and entered France revving up to just over 9p. As we by-passed Paris yesterday, the speedo resembled one from those films about land-speed records; flicking teasingly to 9.5p as the camera flashes continuously between it and the crazy goggle-wearing maniac behind the wheel.

Today, anything is possible. I have written the number '10' on the chrome outside the red zone of the dial and have my goggles (and face mask of course) ready for the new record. Tallyho!!!

It's not just me then. Puerile rubbish most of it but it's a 'family' thing so I send a smiley back normally.

Returning to GGP then. Should I buy any shares in it?

Ah..dodge. We have 1000 miles to go yet before reaching the sanctuary of semi-locked down Britain. Crikey. It had better be worth it!! GGP has kept me going thus far but another few weeks of receiving 'funny' whatsapp videos and it's finished for me.

We have left our self-isolation within a field in the middle of Portugal and have today begun the long journey to Calais, following Boris' pending quarantine caper. (No more being locked please!)
First thing though was to go to a supermarket and get our stocks for the journey, plus extras for the wine rack of course.

I have to say it's really weird returning to 'civilization'! Everyone walking around in masks! A little different to reading about it in the news to experience it in the non-flesh as I walked around looking like the lone ranger.

Anyway, I still kept half an eye on our share today. It's being pressured upwards isn't it! A new broker rating of 12.9p to boot. All looks good as we settle down in this lorry park for the night. Come on 9p..step aside! :)

I must say it is very encouraging to have the wealth of industry talent on here. It also encourages me when the mix of experts all believe this share is worth the investment.

For my own part I can offer nothing but my support, interest and modest holding.

Redleader...just to improve my knowledge, has drilling technology improved significantly in the last ten years? (Such that certain rock types can be considered more 'drillable').

Nothing more is mentioned as to whom or to what extent. Be interesting to know.

Just to change the subject away from the bubbling cauldron of fire and brimstone, I've finished trying to wade through 55 pages of GGP company accounts.

This is not so easy on a 4" screen and is also beyond the valley of excruciatingly boring.

So...can anyone tell me (and this purely out of academic interest) who GGP uses to do the exploration work on the ground? I mean the people wearing the hard hats.

I agree Paddy. We were speculating earlier but I would prefer the wheels of operation turned entirely as per the contract.

This 'Dallas' stuff throws me tbh. We can debate all day on the different scenarios but rarely place a bet on things staying precisely as they were when put to paper and signed off.

I wonder, even if drilling commenced tomorrow on Scally, whether there would be enough time to assemble the data necessary to influence any buy-out.

The MRE for Havieron is due anytime from July 1st. I feel it and it alone will be the sole piece of evidence provided for the overall mineral wealth enjoyed by GGP.

Both parties would have an inkling of course. :)

Agree with that TimberTrader, plus a plethora of 'chatter' about future prospects from a variety of sources, formal and informal.

We have all improved our knowledge of geology via magictrader's excellent presentation, which came out of the blue. Mining industry reports also seem to land on the doorstep without warning, together with 'ear to the ground' tip-offs from 'contacts' in the area.

Btw, find it interesting that not one informal report, that has reached this board, has suggested that the Havieron discovery is anything less than mind-blowing. I am as excited as Tom Waits in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs to see where the posts in the ground will converge!

So yes, plenty to look forward to really!

It seems a little churlish to move from geology to money today after Magic's excellent offering but I feel compelled to do so.

Yesterday it felt like I had all my money on the favourite in the Grand National, only to watch all the 'also rans' fly past while my horse got heavier and more plodding.

Most gold related shares had a field day. Ours went down 8% on a steady decline. Some posters announced that there were twice as many buys as sells. Ideas anyone?
