Introduction On 8 November 2010 the directors of Bidco, GRAM and Caledon announced that agreement in principle had been reached with GRAM on the terms of a Possible Acquisition of Caledon by Bidco, a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of GRAM. The parties are pleased to announce that GRAM has now received formal approval for the Potential Acquisition from the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission ("SASAC") on behalf of the Guangdong Province. GRAM is actively progressing approvals with the remaining Chinese regulatory authorities. In light of this development, the parties are in discussion regarding a renewal of the Non-Solicitation Agreement. Status of pre-conditions The announcement of 8 November 2011 stated that any announcement by GRAM or Bidco of a firm intention to make an offer for Caledon pursuant to Rule 2.5 of the City Code was subject to satisfaction or waiver of a number of pre-conditions. Following receipt of the formal approval from SASAC, the following pre-conditions remain to be satisfied: i. the unanimous recommendation of the board of Caledon of the terms of any such offer, having been advised by RBC Capital Markets that the terms of such an offer are fair and reasonable; ii. the receipt of all necessary approvals from regulatory authorities in China relating to the Possible Acquisition, including the following: o project approval for outbound investment from the National Development and Reform Commission of China on behalf of the State Council; o approval for outbound investment from Ministry of Commerce of China; and o approval for the remittance of foreign exchange out of China from the State Administration of Foreign Exchange of China; and iii. finalisation by GRAM of the terms of its financing for the Possible Acquisition.

Supply Agreement & Acquisition of Breath Condensate Collection Technology Akers Biosciences, Inc. (AIM:AKR), a leading designer and manufacturer of rapid diagnostic screening and testing products, is pleased to announce a strengthening of its relationship with Pulse Health, LLC ("Pulse") as their organization transitioned its commercialisation efforts from a focus on the Free Radical Enzymatic Device ("FReD") to Revelar, a system to measure aldehydes in the breath. Aldehydes are indicators of free radical damage that is thought to negatively impact healthy cells. Millions of people take antioxidant supplements to counteract this process; the Revelar system, which consists of an electronic analyser and disposable breath tubes, provides healthcare professionals with a rapid method to measure the effectiveness of a patient's antioxidant regimen. As a result of Pulse's change in strategy, in early Q2 2011, ABI renegotiated the technology transfer and supply agreement it had previously executed with Pulse in 2008. In this new agreement, ABI purchased all Technology relating to non-invasive Breath Condensate Collection Technology which Pulse had previously acquired from ABI; this includes ownership of US patent #7,285,246. In exchange for this Technology, ABI released Pulse from any obligation to make further payments under the 2008 Agreement, which totals $2.325 million. Also, ABI and Pulse agreed to enter into a new Supply Agreement under which ABI will sell Pulse breath tubes for use in the Revelar devices. Pulse will buy tubes of the kind covered by either of the ABI Patents until Pulse has reached a purchase threshold of $2.325 million worth of such tubes. Once this threshold has been met, Pulse may 1) continue to purchase the tubes from ABI, 2) have the tubes made by a third party while paying ABI a royalty per tube or 3) discontinue use of the technology and ABI Patents. The Company expects this threshold will be achieved over approximately the next 12 months.

The dramatic share price rise enjoyed by Aggreko has left staff and managers of the Glasgow-based company sitting on potential windfall gains running into tens of millions of pounds. Last week shares in the company reached an all-time high of over 1,700p – a sixfold increase on the level seen in 2006 – on the back of news of a contract win to supply emergency power in Japan, according to the Scotland on Sunday.

Later in the week casino and online betting operator Rank issues a trading statement in which it might give more detail on its recent victory over Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC). HMRC is appealing against the decision, which saw the bingo hall operator get a rebate totalling GBP74.8m, covering overpaid VAT on games of bingo from 1973 to 1996. On top of that it also received interest of GBP79.5m, raising questions regarding what it plans to do with the windfall. Peel Hunt estimates that - assuming Rank gets to keep all the cash - it should have a cash surplus of over GBP40m by the end of 2011, wiping out around GBP110m of net debt. "If it does pursue acquisitions we believe these are most likely to be in the areas of online gaming and casinos. Management has thus far been cautious and we do not expect it to embark on a reckless acquisition programme," said analyst Nick Batram.

Also out on Monday is a trading update from recruitment firm Michael Page, following closely in the footsteps of rival recruiters Robert Walters and Hays. Both of those companies reported tough times in the UK market, mainly due to public sector spending cuts, but better fortunes overseas. The situation is unlikely to be much different for Michael Page. "While the UK market remains the most challenging, its impact at a group level has been mitigated by growth elsewhere and it now represents just 28% of group gross profit," Credit Suisse analyst Andy Grobler notes.

THE WEEK AHEAD Embattled pubs group Punch Taverns serves up its interim results on Monday, barely more than a fortnight after it unveiled its plans to split itself into two separate entities: the managed pubs arm (Spirit) and the tenanted estate (Punch). Reaction to the decision has been mixed. Initially the shares fell back on the news, but they have been on a good run in April. Monday's interim figures will give a clue on how the managed and leased divisions are doing and should also give an update on the pubs disposals programme. Punch desperately needs to reduce its GBP3bn debt pile, acquired partly through the GBP2.7bn purchase of rival Spirit in 2005, and is planning to dispose of around 500 pubs per annum until its tenanted division has a core portfolio of about 3,000 pubs.

The shares have fallen sharply since the full year numbers but I am told that the chances are they see 200p sooner than they see 300p. Representing the largest software license value it has ever concluded in the financial services market, Canadian-based software group Silanis Technology has been chosen by a "major" US bank to move to paperless processing across its branch operations. Under this enterprise license, the bank will implement Silanis' e-Sign Enterprise Platform to process customer signatures. Shares in Silanis International (SNS), whose purpose is to invest in the shares of Silanis Technology, rose 1.75p to 17.25p.

API Group (API) expects trading results from continuing operations for the full-year to be ahead of market expectations, the manufacturer of specialised packaging and security products announced, due primarily to a stronger than anticipated second half performance from the Laminates division. It added that results in the Foils businesses have been in-line with expectations. Shares in API advanced 4p to 22.125p.

Shares in Highams Systems Services (HSS) surged 0.625p to 3p on news that the IT resource solutions provider to the financial services sectors expects results for the full-year to be in line with market expectations. The group, whose main client base ranges from the niche SME sector to larger corporate organisations, said results for the 12-months ended 31st March 2011 showed an improvement in EBITDA for the third successive reporting year as revenues demonstrated an "encouraging" increase.

Pre-Close Update The Board of Highams Systems Services Group plc is pleased to make the following pre-close update for the year ended 31 March 2011. The Group announces that it expects its results to be in line with market expectations. This shows an improvement in EBITDA for the third successive reporting year and the group anticipates an encouraging increase in revenues. The Group has also grown its head count to cover the increased demand in IT and professional staff and it expects the benefit of this to show in improved revenues in the forthcoming financial year.

Moving a step closer towards its goal of operating a 50-strong estate, The Capital Pub Company (CPUB) has acquired two freehold pubs for a combined value of 2.92 million pounds. The group has acquired the Mandion in West Dulwich for 1.55 million pounds and the Rye in Peckham for 1.37 million pounds. Looking ahead, the firm added that its acquisition pipeline continued to be strong with plenty of opportunity to continue to grow its portfolio to 45-50 pubs over the next two to three years. The shares increased 4p to 139.5p.

Fully diluted Net Asset Value (NAV) at Woodburne Square Ag* (WSAG) has increased by 34% during the quarter ended 7th April 2011 to 3.37p, the silver and precious metals focused investment company announced. Commenting on this, Tom Winnifrith, the chief investor officer of Woodburne, said: "Operational gearing means that shares in the high quality silver plays in which we have invested should prosper and we therefore view the short and medium term outlook with extreme confidence." The shares climbed 0.125p to 5.875p.

Boosted by rental growth, Britain's largest student landlord Unite Group (UTG) reported a 1.7% increase in the estimated net asset value (NAV) of its flagship UK property fund during the first quarter. The group revealed the NAV as at 31st March 2011 was 0.822 pounds per unit. Looking ahead, the firm added that it expected to deliver rental growth of 3-4% over the year. Unite shares fell 3p to 210.9p.
