Pokroskvoe Field Cadogan reports having been advised by Eni S.p.A (`Eni') that, after analysis of the results for the Pokroskvoe 1 and Pokroskvoe 2a wells, Eni do not intend to exercise their option to acquire a further 30% of the share capital of Pokroskvoe Petroleum BV. The option formed part of the transaction entered into with Eni in July 2011. As advised in the Company's announcement dated 16 February 2012 the logs acquired during the drilling programme indicated the presence of hydrocarbons in the lower part of the well. A decision had been taken to deepen the Pok 2a well by approximately 350 metres. Whilst pulling out of the hole the running string became stuck and subsequent fishing operations with the limited equipment available in country did not allow the running tool to be recovered. Cadogan management will continue to evaluate the most effective option, amongst those available, to re-enter the well.

David Newton, CEO of VANE, commented: "Although it is frustrating not to have completed the third hole at McGhee Peak to target depth, our analysis of the drilling to date has given us sufficient confidence to commit to diamond drilling there. The rotary drilling has already discovered two mineralised targets within a clearly identified porphyry system relatively inexpensively. This is a promising development for VANE and we will continue our exploration there. There are a number of copper exploration targets within our license areas and we intend to remain active in attempting to identify further porphyry systems. " Results to date from drill hole and surface geology/geochemistry/geophysics are encouraging, in that the presence of two mineralized targets within the same exploration property increases the chances of success. The discovery of a large mineralised porphyry system is the first step in VANE's copper exploration programme. This will be followed by vectoring within the large porphyry system to determine if economically viable higher grade mineralisation is present.

Copper exploration drilling update VANE is pleased to announce an update on its copper exploration drilling programme. · Diamond drill rig to complete initial programme at McGhee Peak · Expanding drill programme at McGhee Peak with further holes planned · Drilling commenced on next exploration target, Peg Leg · Drill permits granted on two additional projects; Railroad and Lone Hills As previously announced on 3 February 2012, the Company has completed two rotary exploration holes and partially drilled a third hole at McGhee Peak which have demonstrated a mineralised porphyry system. An attempt to re-drill the third hole, MP-1, reached a depth of 500 feet, but was unable to reach the desired depth due to poor ground conditions again being encountered. MP-1 intersected quartz-sericite alteration accompanied by disseminated pyrite and averaged 0.03% copper between 0 and 350 feet where the hole was lost due to heavy water flow and poor ground conditions. Offset hole MP-1A, adjacent to hole MP-1, intersected the same mineralized area from 0 to 350 feet and finally reached a depth of 500 feet, still in mineralization, but with heavy contamination of samples due to in-fall material. The hole was cased to 350 feet and will now be deepened by diamond drilling. Following further assessment of the drilling to date, which clearly intersected a porphyry intrusion with encouraging alteration and vein-type copper, molybdenum, tungsten and zinc mineralisation, VANE has committed to a further drilling programme to explore this porphyry system. A diamond drill rig, which is more suitable for the encountered ground conditions, will be used for the follow-up drilling programme, during which hole MP-1A will also be completed. Contractors are being engaged to undertake the diamond drill programme whilst permits for this next phase of drilling are obtained from State authorities. Once permitted, each diamond drill hole is expected to take approximately 3-4 weeks to complete and analysis will be performed as drilling progresses. In the meantime the rotary drill rig has been moved to VANE's next exploration target, Peg Leg, located in southern Arizona. An initial 2 hole drilling programme commenced on 12 March 2012. Final drilling permits have now also been received for two additional drilling projects, Railroad and Lone Hills.

Singer Capital kept its "buy" rating for Spectris (SXS) with a 1,950p target price. The precision instrumentation developer exceeded the broker's expectations, with revenue growth of 23% to 1.1 billion pounds in the year ended 31st December 2011 and Singer is confident the group has further growth potential. The broker noted strong cash generation and added that the company could benefit from cross-selling opportunities following a number of acquisitions in 2011

Northland Capital reiterated its "buy" recommendation for Gem Diamonds (GEMD) with a target price of 351p. The broker expects the miner to report revenue growth of 46% in 2011 to 388 million dollars (246.6 million pounds) as production at its Letseng mine rose by 24% to 112,367 carats. Northland also noted that an expansion programme has begun at Letseng and should ramp up to full production by July 2014

Shore Capital maintained its "buy" rating for Optos (OPTS) following the first commercial order for its new Daytona eye imaging device. The retinal scanning technology developer secured a deal to supply 160 devices to eye care specialist OPSM in Australia and New Zealand, with the broker partially attributing the order to the firm's acquisition of Opto Global in 2010. Shore is now looking for the firm to demonstrate similar success in its core market of the US, where it already has a 17% share of the optometry market

Peter Sands, Chief Executive at Standard Chartered, the Asia-focused banking colossus, earned himself 5.9m pounds-worth of shares in the company following the vesting of four separate reward payments. The pay-out came as the largest part of a £32m bonus paid to 10 of the company's directors. Sands, who has been in his role since 2006, has already said he plans to give part of the pay-out to charity.

The continuing positive trading, sale of the part of the business which looked to have the least exciting growth outlook and success of new product suites launched over the last two years ( “particularly the latest versions of the e-commerce software in the multi-channel business and the factory and warehouse automation software in the manufacturing division” ) reinforce confidence in the company's future development. We retain earnings per share forecasts of 4p for the current year, rising to 4.5p next, and also note a prospective dividend yield of more than 3%, rising to more than 3.5%. Given the robust growth prospects, balance sheet strength and demonstrable cash generation, we continue to consider a rating of 10x forward earnings + net cash comfortably justifiable - and, given the disparity between our resultant 55p target price and the current share price, we reiterate our stance of buy.

Peel Hunt has said it has 'increasing confidence' in environment and property consultancy RPS and reiterated its conviction buy rating on the stock following the group's full-year results last week. After upping its 2012 pre-tax profit and earnings per share (EPS) estimates slightly, Peel Hunt has raised its target price from 235p to 260p.
