GKP is a little more than 1% of my portfolio. We all knew the risks and yes upside could be huge but the country is run by incompetent obtuse clowns.

Balance sheet looked better to me, at least it is no longer showing negative equity!

After reading this extensive statement and joining the webcast with a detailed presentation on show I don’t think that we have learned anything new. The pipeline shut on 25th of March and since then costs have been cut to the bone, now running at $6m per month. The only good news is that GKP are now selling around 23/- b/d of oil locally which covers the costs.

Despite recent talks in each Capital there are no firm sightings of a deal but as has been said all along it’s too big a show not to get back on and when it does GKP will be able to pick up where they left off, so prophets of doom need not apply.

Should see the cash position grow as they ramp up production further.

30 bucks a barrel is much higher than expected.

Once the pipeline opens then growth +++,

With an AISC of $1275 and 185,000oz production EPS in this current financial year should hit 5p barring mishaps.

Forward P/E = 2.8

Maintenance on Iraq-Turkey oil pipeline almost complete, Ankara says

Iraq and Kurdistan Region have lost a combined $5 billion in revenues as a result of ongoing halt of the Kurdish oil export through Turkish Ceyhan port since late March, a Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) minister told Kurdistan 24 on Tuesday.

The export has been halted at the request of Baghdad after Iraq claimed victory in an international arbitration court for allowing the Kurdistan Region to independently sell its oil. The court rewarded Baghdad with $1.5 billion.

“Mathematically speaking, it is illogical to lose $5 billion in order to take back $1.5 billion,” the head of KRG Department of Foreign Relations Safeen Dizayee told Kurdistan 24 on Tuesday.

Erbil, Baghdad and Ankara have been in negotiations to resume the export since March. The KRG and Iraqi federal government in April signed a memorandum of understanding to manage the oil dossier with Baghdad.

***Turkey and Iraq have recently agreed to resume the export after the completion of maintenance at the pipeline which is believed to have been damaged by the February earthquake.

Turkish minister of foreign affairs and energy last week visited Iraq and Kurdistan Region, where they discussed a number of topics, mainly the resumption of oil export.

Prior to the stoppage, the Kurdistan Region was exporting over 400,000 barrels of oil per day through a pipeline to Turkey’s Ceyhan port.

The hope is local sales will force a deal. If Baghdad hoped to bankrupt these companies they will have to wait a lot longer as cash balances at worst should remain stable and hopefully rise before long.

They should have done this months ago as some of us have been posting and advising IR.
