UK shares were up double digits, travel stocks soared 40% within minutes.

Guess what, these boards were deathly silent! Hardly anyone posting.

The KRG should have made it clear from the start they would sell their oil by all other means unless compromises were made and the pipeline was restarted. At $5 a barrel production cost with Brent now at $85 even with trucking that is a healthy profit margin and far better than sitting on their ass for 6 months. Ridiculous and inept.

You are VERY naive if you believe the Chancellor and PM hold no sway over the bank and its policies, especially heading into an election cycle.

2% should not and can not be a fixed destination. Flexibility and common sense by bankers and economists is needed here. Higher for longer is the mantra of scaremongerers and short sellers who are ignoring the political reality and looming elections.

So as the UK PM or US President would you rather you went into an election during a recession with still sky high interest rates and the public spewing or rather inflation a little above target at 3 or 4% but with GDP positive and rates lower?

The way this has been handled shows the Iraqi politicians do not care about foreign investment in their economy, their global reputation or standing. It is the public who will suffer. Incompetence of the highest order.

It sounds like a bit of a platitude but clearly we are all waiting for the pipeline to reopen which as we have said all along makes no sense to be closed, in the meantime Genel is benefitting from a streamlining or as the management say are ‘deep cuts’ to the business.

So, for the time being Genel should remain in the portfolio and despite the short term problems has sufficient long term attractions not to let the baby out with the bathwater…

Telefonica deutschland is down 5% after losing its contract to Vodafone.

Posted that weeks ago. None of this is new news but the SP has risen. Etisalat stated months ago they wanted to build a stake in VOD of 20-25%.

When Unilever and Reckitt are in the high teens.

US and the West also need to put the hammer down. A higher oil price is not good for the West and the inflation battle. Re-opening the pipeline can not happen soon enough.
