Think I'm on the wrong track though trying to work out volumes of gas from a ppm.

Some technical explanations for us non - drillers!

PEROSITY....tiny spaces in the rock that house the oil&gas ,
a minimum of 8% is usually required for companies to drill.

PERMEABILITY.....the ability of the liquid to move through a rock which affects how well the oil &gas is extracted.
When rock is found to have low permeability it then requires a lot more pressure to push the oil & gas from the well.
If someone can tell us the ppm (parts per million) significance in the gas would be appreciated.
