RE: Final result2 Nov 2025 07:57
To be fair, we’ve known Vast has been in debt default and failed to honour agreed payment plans for a while, on both secured and unsecured debt.
But we are, nonetheless, drowning in that ever rising debt and have only remained afloat because AP has managed to leverage the diamonds to raise capital and, no doubt, give narrative on prospects to the Romanian Courts.. The ability to do both will vanish soon.
Ignoring short term P&D’s, the bet here is simple. Either the diamond sale is a huge success or it’s not. If it is, great -maybe that will truly be the start of a turnaround. If not, it will be a short term sticking plaster hiding a wound for which we have no more plasters.
And in that respect, the narrative in the accounts indicating diamond proceeds alone won’t be enough, the fact AP got his cash out quietly and quickly, general diamond market conditions, political sensitivities surrounding Marange diamonds, the fact £1m of the last raise was used to pay down creditors who haven’t wanted that for years, and the lack of any indicative value from Vast (who I think would be shouting it from rooftops if it was the gazillions some expect), all suggests to me that the auction will prove disappointing. If I’m right, that could threaten the reorganisation approval in Rom and perhaps even the Sinarom licence. Everything could topple like the house of cards Vast seems to be.
Just my views - no doubt others will disagree.
