I'm new looking at VAST and am trying to understand the history behind the parcel. Not looking for anyone to educate me but would be grateful if for any pointers about where to start looking.

From what I can gather, something happened back in 2008-10 which suspended mining in Maranage and a parcel of stones valued at $18m (?) were placed in "safe" custody. Thereafter VAST have been in negotiation for their release and presumably resumption of rights to mine in conjunction with local community groups.

But like I say, I might have really misunderstood, so any pointers welcome.

Big question for me now, like everyone else, is what's in the parcel? Seems to me it once held value - but has it been pilfered or messed with.

Well, you can see confirmation here that Salignostics is a client of theirs. Hoping I’m not making 2+2=5, my bet is Salignostics have a CDMO agreement with ABDX, TT and FDA application support for Salistick is ongoing, and that Salignostics are raising capital to get the product into retail outlets as early as poss in 2023

Recognise that these could be vacancies to replace leavers but, either way, you don't fill the positions unless there is work to do.

Yates has just posted part 2 of his blog on saliva as a testing medium

Interesting that he cites 3 companies that have done this;

- OraQuick - which we sell through our online shop
- Vatic - with whom we worked.

and Salignostics who, to date, we don't know for certain we are dealing with.

One last thing - we know from Chris Yates LinkedIn posts that ABDX are helping a number of clients with FDA submissions, and we also know that Salignostics is a company that has a current 501k application (pre market approval) in with the FDA.

Seems to me this QARA assistance we give is considered valuable given our head of QARA was one of just a few invited to join the LTIP.

I’m becoming more and more convinced about an ABDX, Salignostic connection.

Here, for example, is the LinkedIn activity of their co founder and chief business development officer. The number of “likes” he gives to ABDX posts (and really not much else) is notable.

He also likes a post from Solomon Capital Group which reads “ I am very happy to be beck in Tel Aviv after having two excellent investment road shows In London (during two week time) for our top of the line clients: a MEDICAL DEVICE COMPANY) and a Pharna compny.)”. Not much of a stretch to think that’s Salignostics, and notable that Chris Yates liked the post.

BTW - it cant hurt either that Professor Neil Bell (AVCT Chief Development Officer) is also a NED at Merit, that being the company which in 2021 built the new lab and LFT manufacturing space for ABDX!

These results are also reflective of a move towards people checking their own health. There are plenty of test developers out there, all seeking to take a share in that market, but far fewer manufacturing companies able to produce final product and fewer with our levels of expertise, automation and capacity.

Someone has to make all these tests…

But then you don't hire heavily into the CDMO team and then tell them you've got nothing for them to do, so I'm assuming that there are some existing and hopefully pipeline contracts in play.

One other possibility is something coming out of the Deepverge agreement.

Why, because when Laura Barrass Hemmens (one of the new recruits from AVCT) replied to a congratulatory message from a Nicola Kingswell she said "I got excited when I saw your name on one of the projects I am working on!"

Until October last year (ie after we reached agreement with DVRG), Nicola Kingswell worked at Deepverge.

Again, no real substance to this other than this correspondence, but when you get nothing out of the company its really the only thing you can try and take any steer from.

In terms of potential news I think we may see;

1. Details of something with Salignostics regarding their saliva based pregnancy test; Salistick. Why, because Yates in particular likes and comments on Linkedin posts from them, he has been recently posting more and more about saliva as an LFT testing medium and ABDX expertise in that medium, and because our own updates confirmed that they are working on a TT for a test in the area of fertility testing. Note, the pregnancy tests we currently have on Abingdonsimplytest are all listed under that same category.

2. I think we may see some sort of agreement with AVCT. It makes no sense to me that they bought Launch (a distributor but NOT a developer) as part of a wider M&A strategy to leverage their affimer tech, but then made a suite of their R&D DX assay scientists redundant. If AVCT produce the affimers then someone needs get them into a working test. At least 4 of their assay scientists, most senior, joined us in Dec/Jan to bolster our CDMO proposition. I can really see that AVCT could benefit from that kind of CDMO arrangement, not least because presumably if ABDX were to develop and then manufacture tests with AVCT using affimers, then TT delays would be very much avoided thus getting product to market more quickly. It shouldn't be forgotten either that we have already worked with Affidx successfully, and are in the same general locality as AVCT DX division.

Might all be rubbish I know so happy for anyone to shoot me down!
