The invasion of Ukraine is terrible however it has massively derisked copl and massively increased upside potential. Increasing oil prices are a self fulfilling prophecy now.

Great to have the eua comparison Mikey however copl won’t have their asset stolen by the federal govt unlike eua which is basically operating in the Soviet Union 2.0

Shaa im sure eua was a great share prior to Vladimirs diatribe last night about how he wants the Soviet empire back. He will retaliate with anything he can against the sanctions the west will impose. He could add a few hundred million to the war effort by selling eua assets to the Chinese with the flick of a pen - zero compensation for shareholders. Smart money is obviously getting out before this happens. Not hard to figure out

Could someone enlighten me regarding the following. Say the hedge is 1000 bbl a day give or take, could Arthur not sell half at spot and provide the hedge with 500 bbl a day and make up the balance later on in the year once production is much improved and therefore the hedge a much smaller % of revenue say q3/q4?

During these uncertain times copl should really not be negatively impacted in any way, there are no assets in Russia or Eastern Europe. The oil price is only going one way and there is a major push for western energy security (regardless of what the greens say). Wouldn’t like to be an EUA holder or so other London listed company with assets in Russia or Eastern Europe- what’s stopping vlad selling it to the Chinese for example?Hopefully investors will see copl as more of a safe haven as this situation in Eastern Europe plays out.

Interesting about Zphr, it would appear they have the same current bbl per day production as copl (unhedged) but they have a fraction of the oil and the upside. Hopefully copl pick up cuda cheap and get to cash in on that unhedged production

Oilydee that’s a bit of a stupid assumption, the current price of oil impacts the NPV of the current reserves. If oil went to $10 you wouldn’t say that the current value of copl is not impacted as the price is hedged for another year.

Incredible to think that COPLs proven reserves and new discovery are now worth 20% more than a month ago when the discovery was announced. Hopefully this will start to show in the sp some time soon

Wonder how many people went chasing prem by selling out of copl, the mkt cap there is more than copl and I don’t think they have any income at the moment. Just shows what we should do when the stars align, at least we know our asset can’t be nationalised overnight once all the hard work is done ….

If there is more invasion speculation and it actually happens crude will probably spike 25/30% minimum from where we are. Russia will be sanctioned so the west cannot buy oil and gas from them (they will sell to China, putin and Xi probably discussed this at olympics). What does this do for the likes of COPL? it makes the urgency for a deal to be done for the assets much more important when oil is over $100 and the energy independence of the US is on the line. The geopolitics causing the oil price to explode coinciding with the CPR could be fireworks. Saying that I seriously hope he does not invade.

All I can see is Arts buys in 2016 and his latest £225k, has he bought anything in between ?

Re reading the placing RNS would make you think that he is bidding the 7.5mil + “other resources” . maybe he won’t bid anything like that and is trying to drive the price up to make It more expensive as possible which in turn makes COPL more valuable and the chances of a bigger player getting involved due to the untapped potential with the new discovery. Would be far bette to have a cash rich partner that wants to exploit the asset vs another cash strapped one.

So he must have either put in a lowball bid in the off chance he gets it or he is hoping that news of the big discovery will attract some big players that will throw big money at the Cuda WI knowing that he will then have so many more options on the table once the deal is concluded and the uncertainty is removed.

Reason I suggested 2x CPR is because he probably knows that the market doesn’t believe him especially since the 10Jan revolutionary RNS has done virtually nothing…

Would it be possible that AM has gone for two CPRs not just the one from Ryder Scott ? Two independent reports would surely give the majors more confidence to come on board or simply buy copl. It’s been 4 weeks now since he released the news so assuming they got to work on this early January you would like to think it’s only going to be a few more weeks until it’s public knowledge.
