I could see this situation developing months ago. Mexico is practically a failed state with gun and drug violence etc and the govt is acting rather like the govt of a dictatorship in having a knee jerk reaction to foreign entities taking mineral resources from them. The only fix I see is some brown paper envelopes to various people in the Mexican govt. This is the norm in these banana republics.

All mining stocks are in the toilet at present due to the Chinese economy being sickly. Fact is many people saw this coming years ago. Saw a documentary about how the wealthy Chinese were desperate to invest in something so they invested in thousands of high-end apartments in hundreds or thousands of high rise blocks. These have all sat there for 3 years with maybe a couple of % occupancy and now everyone has realised their half million dollar ap#partments are not worth much cus nobody can buy them !

Like you I have the advantage of 'time in the market' . But I would hate to think of the situation some folks are in that invested say late 2021, and I think I have a friend that put his SIPP into one of HLs fixed investments around that time and now cant retire for a bit longer.
