If indeed the apparently missing blocks ,adjacent to Centamin are not in this current auction. It could be even more reason to believe EMRA is reserving them for the future, when Centamin/EMRA are more ready to explore and exploit ,probably one of the most promising prospects in the region.
But we will not have to wait too long for a clue.

Supercharger I agree within Egypt they should stand alone.
In West Africa, they made it clear in a statement ,that each new mine would also stand alone after start up, and be independent ,and responsible for themselves, as I believe they are registered under separate names as subsidiaries. They would be better suited for partnerships with other mining companies, possibly such as Bristow.
The initial cost of those start ups would mean considerable loans.
Sukari on the other hand was negotiated with government eventually paying the costs of plant and machinery. Which gave incentive to get into production rapidly for a mine, compared to others such as Aton Resources who are struggling, raising loans and consolidating shares ,which puts many investors off. And still not in production,

Having considered what happened in the proposed merger between Shalateen and La Mancha.
I have concluded that EMRA are much more than just a passive observer of Centamin.
When you look back at the Endeavour attempted merger ,almost a year ago ,they left the " table "very quickly.
It is likely EMRA, quietly ,did not approve. After all they control licensing ,and paid for the plant at Sukari. In effect they are 50 % shareholders if they wish,
Centamin are not much more than licensees. And non-compliance is not an option if it is not to EMRA's interest.
So I come to the conclusion , the chances of a hostile takeover or merger are highly unlikely.
CEY are too much of an important revenue earner for government ,to let be changed by another unknown partner .
I would of course ,be interested in all your views on this subject.

What is odd in this story is the Enterprise article said some of Shalateen's shareholders objected to the deal.
Those are EMRA with 35%. National service projects org. of the defence ministry 34 %. and National Investment Bank 24 %.
So basically they objected to Sawaris La Mancha wanting 51 %. Giving them total control.
Sawaris on June 6 denied talks were frozen ,so really he was telling porkies, as possibly were Shalateen if the recovery costs of this "Bonanza" were more than the recovery. Overall sounds like doing business there is very tricky. Like the disappearance of the concessions in the current bid round.

The question is why no more talks between gov and La Mancha, that is strange, Sawairis suddenly losing interest, why?
Very odd.
I am sure it will take time to find out if ever.

Yes I noticed the same but no time frame. As usual.

If going by past history is anything to go by. They would not sell lock stock and barrel, but solely the asset. Keeping a small royalty on production. Then continue finding whatever they can for their future remuneration. And if the SP rises sufficient at that time, sell as quickly as poss.
Apart from their disastrous coal brick adventure is all they have ever done.
They are an "Investment Company". Focussed on making enough to keep the Directors fees coming in.
If and when they change is another subject , leopards and spots springs to mind.
But that is only my take on it ,having being invested here for far to long waiting for that day.

But they have got better in the previous years.

Although not directly affecting gold , an example of US admins mentality, and likely spread even more volatility.

It looks like the dollar is dropping and gold rising.
If it continues I would put yesterdays drop on manipulation and profit taking by the chosen ones.
I suppose we can expect more of this before and after the elections.

Well the buyers in the late trades Friday certainly knew the stocks selloff today was coming.
On the bright side they obviously expect a rebound in gold, or they would not have made their move.
They were not small investors and must have insider knowledge.
