Alexios, After the RI, each share is an entirely different entity. Its price recalculated, and with a new life. The old shares in its current form will no longer exist.

So yes, The short of today's share at 160p will become multiple shares of lesser value per share, but in their entirety aggregated to the same short monitory value. So yes, Ratty will endup with 13 short shares at 60p, instead of say 3 shorts of 160p. His short monitory value remains the same.

But somehow I feel he think his current 3 short shares will suddenly become worth 60p on the morning of the Rights Issue.

Please ignore all reference in posts about MMs and what they do or dont do. Its all nonsense conspiracy theorists blaming their misfortune on some nasty market maker manipulating the price because its been told to, instructed or they are short of stock, or filling an order. Its all crap!

Trading is done via electronic order book and although the orderbook is fed by a list of authorised MMs, more or les anyone can enter orders in to the book and create depth in the market. So its an even playing field and difficult to manipulate the price of a company as big as RR as there are constant stream of orders in to the book

Pre RI and Post RI shares and prices are entirely 2 separate beasts. The shares are issued in a different form, different ISIN and so on.

You cannot say that whats worth 165p today, will become 60p tomorrow after RI. If you short at 160 today you WILL NOT be better off by 100p just because post RI the share is trading at 60p.

Do you understand this? As I feel you dont and think the more you pile on at 160p you will be rewarded by 100p a share over night

Compensation? Compensate you for what exactly???

HL is execution only broker, they execute your order. Why should they compensate you for a stale price as part of your holding calculation? When you placed your order they executed at the marker price. If they execute at a wrong price then they need to compensate you, not for displaying a 4 day old sprice.
