Another excellent article from ST. I can understand the market overlooking one analysts share price projection, but when 3 (all around the same ballpark number) analysts are on the same hymn sheet "overlooking" becomes quite frustrating. Good to see a rare price jump today supported by some decent volume.

Nice (but strange) rise in the share price today. Volume of 3,269,754 (bought 1,371,887 sales 1,897,867) but the mix in simple supply v demand rules does not stack up. Happy for today anyway. This just needs the right news to rerate, fingers crossed.

Can you explain (justify) why any bidder would offer 300p with the stock currently below 120p?

What an understatement, and sadly consumers will be paying for this "OFGEM" failure for years to come - They continue to fail to making the "ring fencing" of consumer balances compulsory leaving the door open for similar failures should prices spike again. Centrica has bought forward (quite a way forward) £8bn (that may be $) worth of gas and for me they are the only supplier that can be wholly trusted - Just hope Labour don't sabotage the progress being made here.

There has been some criticism of the term "long term investor" so going back to previous buybacks in March 2018 buybacks were happening at an average of 67.25p - now tell me what value is being added.

Yes, the average of all buybacks since 23/2/23 is 46.25p, the average price paid on 23/2/23 was 52.02p and the average price paid today was 42.58p. So a long term investor with say 20,000 shares has seen a decrease from £10,404 to £8,600 (being generous with a closing sp of 43p tonight) so an overall decline of about 17% -- terrific value - NOT

Interesting article Dick. Just to add, in May we took an interesting river cruise in Germany. Visited some lovely and interesting small town that all suffer from flooding and potential future flooding. They all mark the water levels in the city walls. The last major event was in 1995 with levels marked at around 5 feet all blamed at climate change/fossil fuels etc etc. The historical marks however went higher than 12 feet in years when folk moved around by horse and cart. Strange that aint it.

No RNS - Investor relations dividend section states the exchange rate for the 4th August dividend.

Floated at 10p and now having another raise at 3.8p. George failed to support the previous raise but having just taken money from shareholders feels justified paying up this time - Has any gold been found from the dewatered mine??

UK Energy firms will meet today with Grant Shapps at Downing Street. The discussions will focus on renewables, nuclear power and North Sea oil and gas. In attendance will be BP, Shell, SSE, Electricite de France and National Grid.

The discussions will also include new laws to protect infrastructure from Just Stop Oil.

Don't be too hasty with this. The dividend (is disappointing) is being kept low to deter political and media comment. The value for shareholders is being delivered by the buybacks with the total now standing at £1bn. By my reckoning there remains £550k in the buyback pot. They started in November 2022 at circa 85p, the shares touched 140p today so there remains plenty of buybacks in the coming weeks and months to drive the share price higher and the dividends will increase over time, with no debt and higher interest rates to further enhance the sp.

Nor will I.

On the back of recent results, and new analysts price targets, coupled with the current and next share buy back program there appears no stopping this share price rise. LTH have suffered for a number of years and deserve to enjoy the ride back to respectability.

A Nationalised Industry - that quickly becomes a broken bottomless pit (NHS). Perhaps if OFGEN (government appointed) had done the appropriate due diligence on the financial adequacy of the bankrupt suppliers it granted licences to Joe Public would not be paying for the losses they created.
