hobione..they stopped lending to what the FCA described something like: "illiterate, cave-dwelling morons, who are so disadvantaged, that their intellectual evolution does not allow them to determine the difference between their heads and their arses" (they did put it different wordings, but it pretty much boiled down to that ;-) ). I was shocked, when I read that! I would be foaming if I was a creditor who has voted for the SoA ;-)

Especially as Provi didn't stop totally, they only stopped doorstep lending and from I understand they may have done that in due course anyway, as it wasn't as financially profitable anymore, as it once was.
prolee, you should join the Secret Service :-) Amazing what you find out. It has escaped your razor sharp brain, though, that vinson stated that he only divulged general information and no details, as he asked not to :-) . With you as Agent "Super Nose 007" the world would be a safer place ;-)
RockandRoller, from what I know shorting doesn't work by buying shares. The shorter would lend shares for a fee (basically renting them) then selling them off, waiting for the price to drop, buying them back, handing them back to the broker they lend them from and the difference is their profit. I wouldn't advise doing that, because the limit to the bottom is zero, but to top there is no limit and they'd still want the shares back.
