To assist in George’s question, if the price has to go down to fulfil an order, it would suggest that it is a sell. When there is demand to sell shares, the price goes down to encourage others to buy, which is what allows the transaction to take place.

Vice versa, if the price has to go up to fulfil an order, it would suggest that it was a buy, as the price goes up to encourage more selling to take place to complete the transaction.

The past 5 after hour trades that I’m seeing on the London Stock Exchange website:

16:31- 1,106,697 shares equalling £699,587.44 @ 63.21p
16:36- 1,100,000 shares equalling £672,320.00 @ 61.12p (this transaction may be a SELL, as the price it executed at is lower than the one before it)
16:46- 1,015,000 shares equalling £628,071.85 @ 61.88p (this transaction may be a BUY, as the price has gone up to execute this one)
16:50- 900,000 shares equalling £560,583.00 @ 62.29p (this one looks like a buy too, as the price has gone up)
17:07- 12,592 shares equalling £7,706.68 @ 61.20p (this one looks like a sell as the price has gone down to execute this one)

CINE is 34.1% of mine. Next is JNJ with 17.1% and AAPL with 10.7%.

The majority of the rest are reopening plays or little experiments. United Airlines is 9.7% and NEX is 8.4%. Crispr Therapeutics is one of my more experimental ones, that is 5.47%.

Got to love CINE though, when it rose to 84 my portfolio as a whole was flying :)

How exactly does this make sense?

Stock trading is transactional, so for every share bought there is one sold and vice versa.

If a 16 million sale occurred this morning, it would have caused the stock price to tank if there were insufficient buyers. For a 16 million sale to go through, there must be a 16 million buy there as well. It all depends on the demand for buying at that time. Considering there was no significant drop, there must have been a buy in there as well, correct?

The shorter’s tricks extend way beyond just price manipulation and FUD in the media.

Today, we have yet again seen some newcomer enter the chat room who has just signed up today, out of all the thousands of stocks that exist on the LSE he/she decided to come straight to CINE as a first step to inform us of his intentions to not buy and to spread mixed messages about the future of the company. Exact same thing happened with pawelbak and a heck of a lot of others who came and went too. It takes effort and time to create an account who’s sole purpose is to deliver negative news, so they are doing it with an ulterior motive.

The shorters are running out of options. We have all established here that the daily volume of CINE is nowhere near sufficient to allow the shorters to close should a sudden event occur that causes the stock price to surge. They are in deep trouble, and they realise that. There are many potential catalysts on the way, a few being the court case and the trading update. A full year update is also due in 5 months time.

They are trying to do everything within their power to cause a mass sell-off to allow them to cover. Smalltrader made a good point earlier where he explained that this chat board is one of the most sought after in terms of where we retail investors converge. We had a massive shill in the Reddit board last week before he got banned, who was blatantly trying to gauge investor confidence and sentiment through polls and a mixture of highly negative posts to see how it was reacted to. If they are interested in the smaller, less active Reddit board, then you can only imagine the interest they have here. We also know executives at the top watch this board carefully as well, as JG revealed to us a few months ago.

We are the largest congregation of active CINE retail investors, and as we own 24.1% of CINE it is in the short seller’s best interest to get us to sell off. They can get all the shares that they need right here, right now. All it takes is enough negative sentiment and a few to sell off. Once they achieve that it is a simple domino effect.

I must admit that in the past when I was just getting started with this share, all the negative commentary in the media made me second guess my investment several times, however I held firm and continued to hold and I am very pleased I did, especially with rise to 84 last month, that showed that there is scope for a good rise here still. Any new investor to the markets will become very unsettled with the constant negative commentary and the high volatility just as I was a while back, it is all a plot from higher above that so far has had very minimal effect.

Stay vigilant and watch out very closely, the cards are stacked in our favour, let us not hand the victory to those that do not deserve it.

I saw that too lpd, the sp was on its way down and then it started recovering suddenly at the last minute. Looked like there was a fight for buying and selling, buying ultimately prevailed :)

Hello Pogo, congrats on your new account. Very thoughtful of you to come straight to the CINE board.

CPI can hit whatever it would like to, so can energy and fuel prices, but here we consider the actual fundamentals of the company. We are all aware that short-term headwinds exist which may adversely affect the share price, but none of us are panicking. The reason being that we know this company is recovering well and doing fine. That is also the reason why wages go up, to counteract the CPI increase. The effect will not be materially significant for CINE, so that is why we are not worried about it.

Inflation drives up the cost of goods, which may likely increase the revenue that CINE is bringing in. CINE’s concessionary items are very low cost to produce and sold at a high profit margin, how much do you think the price of corn will be affected by inflation? Not greatly. Meanwhile, CINE can continue to increase the price of that concessionary item in their sites, which leads to an increase in revenue.

In the US, institutional investors pay to see the order flow of retail investors like you and I, also known as payment for order flow (PFOF). If retail investors didn’t have power in the markets as they want us to believe, then they wouldn’t be interested in our order flow information. Simple as that.

Your method makes absolute sense Bombdog and Moneypit. I had a gut feeling that the 90 odd figure was quite high considering they bought the majority when the price was very low back in the winter.

What is good about that average is that they are still expecting more upside from here. They could cash out now with a decent profit and call it a day, but they have decided not to. If they’re not selling at a profit, I don’t see why I should sell at a loss.

The way I calculated was by going through each RNS and calculating the difference from the last one, and then adding it all together and then dividing by their total ownership right now.

Possibly, I’ve made an error in there amongst the hundreds of figures I put into my calculator.

I agree it sounds out of the ordinary, but I know what I saw :)

When I was coming out, there was only one till open for some reason so they formed just one long queue.

Visited my usual cinema today for a rewatch of Dune, and the foyer was busy when I arrived.

4 decent queues for every till that was open, and lots of people purchasing concessions. The actual showing only had about 10 people inside, so I assume the others in the foyer went to watch something else (or in a different format etc).

On my exit, one massive long queue, easily about 15 people in length. Very nice and busy and I can definitely see a good boost in trading during this half-term.

I knew it was just a matter of time until FunInvestor got his hands on this thread, I knew he just couldn’t resist to dampen this good news.

Not happy with a £12/13m increase in revenue but very deeply concerned about the US box office being 1-2% off of pre-pandemic…

This is fantastic news for CINE in that case! less tax means more money in our pockets and more money to pay back debt and perhaps more money for dividends later on :)
