We have increased operating expenses in FY 2021 to
reflect the delayed phasing of pre-clinical costs and completion of CMC package.

We introduce FY 2022 forecasts, with the cash runway extending into Q3 CY 2021.

We maintain our target price of 25p, which is based on an rNPV for SFX-01 in mBC only. This excludes any value attributable to other indications, such as in autism or NASH,which will be pursued through non-dilutive financing sources, or the potential value of SFX-01 as a sulforaphane delivery platform.

Good news stacking UP ......one would have thought that after 4 months, they would want a new CEO in place by the start of September which should add plenty of value and no doubt be the catalyst for a flow of positive newsflow thereafter........and every chance that Evgen could have a commercial partner waiting in the wings to advance SFX-01's undoubted potential of multiple disease targets imho...watch this space....the sp will be pushing UP past 15p plus and more to new highs in anticiapation imho....Gla ;-)

Sulforaphane clinical trials and COVID-19

A plethora of articles have been published this year on how researchers’ favorite topics can / may / should / could / will fix COVID-19. This one was different in that relevant clinical trials were both completed and already underway before a Madness of Crowds behavioral contagion infected us:

“It is crucial to understand the most appropriate context for introducing an anti-inflammatory therapy to complement an antiviral therapy. Such therapy must control inflammation without altering the ability of the host to mount an efficient adaptive immune response against the virus.

We propose that boosting endogenous cellular defenses by targeting the cytoprotective transcription factor Nrf2 (gene name NFE2L2) will promote the resolution of COVID-19 associated inflammation and also restore redox homeostasis and facilitate tissue repair.

The isothiocyanate sulforaphane (SFN) is the most potent naturally occurring NRF2 activator, with well-documented antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. The high bioavailability of SFN makes it an excellent candidate for alleviating excessive anti-inflammatory responses and protecting the lungs.

Even though Nrf2 is the primary mediator, additional factors contribute to the anti-inflammatory effects of SFN. SFN inhibits NF-?B, inhibitor of NF-?B kinase subunit ß (IKKß), and STAT3.

By regulating the endogenous cytoprotective systems, Nrf2 may have a more physiological role in achieving a balance between the beneficial and adverse effects of inflammation. Nrf2 inhibits IL-6 and IL-1ß gene expression.

Antioxidant and cytoprotective effects of Nrf2 activation are long-lasting and persist for several days after inducer elimination. They are mediated by enzymes that, in contrast to small molecules, have long half-lives and are not consumed, and are instead regenerated during the reactions which they catalyze.”

48 new confirmed cases of COVID-19; this is 1.3% of newly tested individuals.
0 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive (noting that Register Offices are now generally closed at weekends).
3 people were in intensive care last night with confirmed COVID-19.
261 people were in hospital with confirmed COVID-19.
12,291 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results.

News of a new CEO coming soon and my money is on a strategic partner investor for Evgen, and Reata is top of my list. Gla ;-)

I'm not suggesting that it's down to SFX-01, it's an observation and the coicedence is compelling.......SFX-01 patient trials were expected to commence in July, and over that period there have been no rreported deaths........i certainly didn't suggests that new would be reported after 15 days.......1this is the primary outcome of the clinical status of patients after 15 days on SFX-01....trial results aren't expected until end of year, although if SFX-01 was working as hoped and positive therapeutic indications were observed, then early reporting would be more than likely in the coming weeks.

"Investigating a sample size of 300 subjects, the study will compare outcomes for 300mg SFX-01 taken orally, once daily, plus best standard of care (BSC) versus placebo taken orally, once daily plus BSC. The primary outcome of the trial is the clinical status of patients on day 15 based on a seven point scale, recommended by the World Health Organisation as the optimal clinical trial endpoint for COVID-19 studies."

Throughout July and into August Scot.Gov have reported between 300 plus and 260 plus patients in hospital by Covid-19 EACH DAY and no reported deaths for 21 consecutive days...plenty of patients in hospital who would have said yes to SFX-01 immediately after diagnosis, a natural based compound with a clinically proven safety profile, or a heavy duty drug that could have serious side effects...now which one would you choose??? :-)

According to The Scotsman , Scotland had the third worst death record in the World, and so quite a turnaround , something is going on.

Scotland coronavirus death rate third worst in the world

Scotlands coronavirus death toll has hit 4,000 it was revealed yesterday, as the Scottish Government faced criticism over failing to meet a pledge to introduce routine testing of care home workers.

20 days in a row now with no Covid-19 deaths reported in Scotland, yet 65 reported across the UK today and an average of 60 deaths a day over the last month....why would that be!!!??? :-)

Lockdown restrictions are to be reimposed on the Aberdeen area after 54 new cases emerged in a coronavirus cluster.

As a result, restrictions will be reimposed in the Aberdeen City Council area. A five-mile travel rule has been put in place and residents are being told not to enter each other’s houses.

Meanwhile, the Government reported on Wednesday that 65 more people had died across all settings after testing positive for Covid-19, taking the UK's official death toll to 46,364.

SFX-01 is actually in phase 2/3 Covid-19 patient trials, and is also being prepared for phase 2/3 breast cancer trials, where phase 2 results were outstanding and life changing for some patients. Gl :-)

Given the funding constraints suffered by small cap drug development companies in the UK, our strategy is to move to a business model where we facilitate multiple clinical trials on SFX-01 in risk-sharing arrangements, with the objective of attracting non-dilutive funding from grants and/or charities to wholly or substantially fund future clinical activity. This strategy has three key components:

(1) Our first priority is to ensure the continued development of the breast cancer programme. We will complete the trial design and cost a clinical trial protocol and then seek non-dilutive funding for Evgen and/or an affiliated clinical institution to sponsor the trial.

(2) In parallel we aim to leverage the extensive pre-clinical and clinical data that shows the potential for SFX-01, as a sulforaphane delivery platform, to be used in diseases that are beyond our capacity to pursue.

(3) In addition, we will pursue opportunities to apply our intellectual property on stabilised sulforaphane to non-pharmaceutical opportunities which offer a more rapid route to market.

We will therefore support a number of proposed Investigator-Initiated Trials - these are trials led by a clinician from a well-renowned institution, with that institution being the sponsor for the trial. Evgen will provide support as required (in the confines of an investigator sponsored study), sharing our knowledge, experience and the methods and laboratories used for pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic endpoints. All such trials are subject to grant funding being procured and Evgen will supply clinical centres with SFX-01 and, where appropriate, a placebo.

Evgen will have the right to access the clinical data on fair commercial terms to advance its clinical and commercial development. Since the principal funding for these trials will be obtained by the investigator/ institution they have limited impact on our cash reserves.
