Lol cashfornuthin, exactly right mate, i've always enjoyed the chase and flying the flag of any stock i think has muti-bag potential and prospects, and especially enjoy the cut and thrust of opposing views from those intent to undermine , and so more than happy to see a surge of new investors with positive opinion, rather than just mine and a few others, which obviously suggests that Evgen is all set for its next exciting devlopment phase with significant UPside and substantial value on its way...Gl ;-)

Massive undoubted UPside potential from Evgen's lowly market cap especially compared to other Bios' with similar stage pipelines valued many £millions more, Phase 2/3 for Covid and outstanding Phase 2 results for breast cancer, which are in the planning for phase 2b patient trials and compelling clinical data on a host of other disease targets currently in evaluation by high profile academia for consideration to progress to patient trials in CKD, NASH, Autism etc , not to mention the potential of the non-pharma market with Jim Mellon's £250k investment via his Juvenscene development company which develops therapies that will allow people worldwide to live longer, healthier lives, £10.5m milestones and royalties thereafter....incredible prospects and potential from a little gem of a company, which amazingly still appears very much under the radar at the moment and rediculously undervalued.....Sooner or later this will go BIG time imho....Gla ;-)

An orderly share transfer and accumulation is in progress imho, and those that have parted with their shares cheaply will well and truly wish they hadn't in due course...maybe a strategic investor and/or JV is on the cards, and would be no surprise given SFX-01's panacea potential over multiple disease targets which must be of great interest to Big Pharma...Gla :-)

As far as any stellar rise on SFX-01's Covid-19 patient trials, then obviously that will not happen until positive results are reported, and although Top line results aren't expected until well into next year, early reporting is very likely given that it is a phase 2 and phase 3 trial combined, whereby phase 2 results could be reported by the end of the year, if not sooner. SFX-01 was selected from over 130 drug application candidates because of its activation potency of the Nrf2 pathway which is thought to be key in regulating the expression of antioxidant proteins that protect against oxidative damage triggered by injury and inflammation, associated with multiple diseases including respiratory infections and distress associated with Covid-19, ARDS and pneumonia. SFX-01 is also a potent activator of the STAT3 pathway, which has been confirmed recently as the "key to immune system inflammation " and has been targeted for the treatment of cancer, including SFX-01 phase 2 breast cancer trials , where results were outstanding and life changing for some patients, and has been recently recommended for clinical development for the treatment of Covid-19, and so SFX-01's dual mechanism over these 2 key pathways must increase the chances of its potential in becoming a therapeutic benefit and treatment for Covid-19, ARDS , Pneumonia etc, as well as a host of other diseases and infections that are thought to be influenced by Nrf2 and Stat3 pathways. Lots to look forward to with great excitement with news possible at anytime on multiple fronts. Gla :-)

Breast Cancer clinical trials on BBC TV news now, discussing new drugs prolonging the life of terminally patients at Christies Hospital , Manchester.....one of the previous trial sites for SFX-01 in collaboration with University of Manchester. Gla ;-)

Early reporting on SFX-01's Covid-19 patient trials highly likely imho. Gla ;-)

Investigating a sample size of 300 subjects, the study will compare outcomes for 300mg SFX-01 taken orally, once daily, plus best standard of care (BSC) versus placebo taken orally, once daily plus BSC. The primary outcome of the trial is the clinical status of patients on day 15 based on a seven point scale, recommended by the World Health Organisation as the optimal clinical trial endpoint for COVID-19 studies.

All good things come to those that wait...cashfornuthin.....and there's more to Evgen then just the Covid-19 patients trials, but obviously if SFX-01 was confirmed a therapeutic benefit , then Evgen's market cap would be valued in the £100's of millions, and so undoubted transformational potential, if there ever was....On and UP!!! Presumably no shortage of patients for SFX-01's Covid-19 patient trials, as SFX-01 will be administered to patients with pneumonia and acute respiratory infections regardless of testing positive for Covid-19 , and so early reporting could be very likely, and SFX-01's commercial potential could be huge if positive indications are observed. Gla ;-)

Evgen Pharma plc (AIM: EVG), a clinical stage drug development company, is pleased to announce that all necessary regulatory approvals have now been received for the STAR trial (SFX-01 treatment for Acute Respiratory Infections). Trial recruitment is expected to commence around the end of the month.



STAR is a Phase II/III trial to investigate whether the company's lead asset, SFX-01, can reduce the severity, or prevent the onset of, acute respiratory distress syndrome ("ARDS") in patients with suspected COVID-19. Patients may therefore be drawn from both hospital and community settings and may present with COVID-19 or other respiratory diseases. It is a randomised, placebo-controlled trial and is sponsored by the University of Dundee.



SFX-01 upregulates the Nrf2 pathway which is part of the natural human defence against inflammatory and oxidative stress, such as the inflammation that occurs during a severe viral infection. Preclinical studies have shown that up-regulating the Nrf2 pathway reduces the severity of ARDS, the progressive lung damage observed in COVID-19 and pneumonia patients, which can result in the need for invasive ventilation in an intensive care unit.



The clinical study is being supported by a grant from LifeArc, as previously announced in June 2020, and is being led by Professor James Chalmers, British Lung Foundation Professor of Respiratory Research at the University of Dundee. The results are expected in 2021.



Evgen will supply clinical centres with SFX-01 and a placebo as its contribution to the trial. No additional financing is required as the costs of providing SFX-01 for the trial are not material.

A/Prof Mansell said the discovery was like “finding how turning a key in a car ignition tells the engine to start producing energy to turn the wheels”.

The study found that a protein called STAT3 plays a critical role in communicating signals from surface sensors on the cell (macrophages) , to the cell’s engine room- the mitochondria – that a foreign invader has been identified.

This reprograms the mitochondria to kick-start energy production and usage to generate inflammation, said co-author Dr Dan Gough. “When an immune cell detects an infection, like bacteria, it rapidly changes its metabolism from a resting to an inflammatory state,” Dr Gough said.

“This provides the energy and building blocks to produce chemicals called cytokines, which fight off the infection. This metabolic or energetic ‘switch’ occurs in the engine room of cells – the mitochondria,” he said.

Hudson Institute Director, Professor Elizabeth Hartland said the discovery was pivotal to understanding how certain immune cells adapt their metabolic activity to drive inflammation.

“There has long been a gap in our knowledge of how macrophages take a signal from the cell surface and translate it to the mitochondria. Now, thanks to the work of our inflammation scientists at Hudson Institute, we have an answer to that question,” said Hudson Institute Director, Professor Elizabeth Hartland.

“This missing link is pivotal because it gives us a deep understanding of the signalling events in our immune system’s first line of defence – the inflammatory process. This discovery has big implications for further research into treatments for a wide range of inflammatory diseases.”
