Purplebricks will probably survive because its sales model is still attractive to many vendors and there is still cash in the business, according to an industry expert.
Anthony Codling, who runs property platform Twindig, also believes a buyer may come forward for the ailing agency.
“They could close the business, but that isn’t typically what happens and I would be surprised. They still have cash,” he told The Neg.
“There is definitely a market for the [Purplebricks] sale model – there is a good number of people who want to sell that way.
“I think the traditional agents will be much more reluctant to offer that service,” he added.
Purplebricks customers are asked to pay a fixed fee up front, with a starting price of £1,349.
FOR SALE
The company was put up for sale 11 days ago when it announced ‘a strategic review’ and issued a profit warning.
Codling said the Bruce brothers, Michael and Kenny, who set up Purplebricks, may be tempted to come back and try to save the business. German firm Axel Springer, which is a major shareholder, may also be considering whether to increase its stake, he believes.
The structure of the Purplebricks business needs to change though, Codling said. “You don’t need agents on the ground across the country, that cost base is too low.”
David Reynolds, Equity Analyst, Davy Research
City analyst David Reynolds says a private equity buyer could be added to the list of possible suitors for Purplebricks.
But the business could go into administration if a buyer isn’t found, Reynolds, of Davy Research, warns.
I liked this understandable article from June.

‘WHICH’ awarded Smarty phone for summit. Well the advert that it appears on is some rural roadside veg stall saying potato onions etc for sale pay by crypto. The crux is supposed to be complicated form of payment where smarty deal easy but I laugh seeing interesting connection of crypto and which magazine lol!
