Brent in $62 and oil closing in on $60 boggles my mind why we are so low. I expect shorts to close heavily next week any short position held will have to pay out dividends on the borrowed shares.

We may have a perfect storm brewing as we get into next week I think we will see shorts drop. Any shorter holding into ex div will need to pay out dividends to holders of said borrowed shares. I expect positions to close out then we will see if they will go short again there after.

Took a few hours away from the screen after looking at it this morning and it has come back down lol this has to be one of the most frustrating shares to watch at the min.

I’m personally not worried about them “over paying” the land is at a premium because of the scarcity from the crown estate. Read between the lines. Also has it hit anyone we are doing this really to make our selves investable again to pensions and big funds who all sold off big carbon emitters just last year. Companies like Exxon doubling down on oil fair enough short term gain but longer term pain when another crisis happens.

The losses we incurred mostly asset write downs now i think every CEO and the companies accounts will be frothing at the mouth being able to write off assets at lets say $30 because come April they will be able to book these losses and protect profits for 2021 Q4 and possibly into another financial year. Total of $18 billion loss at lets say $7billion profits per annum covers us till q2 2023. Maybe I'm too optimistic but, in my head large companies always benefit from losses in some form.

I think renewables are good but at a sensible pace. All this urgency to shift and get rid of our assets in the current crisis makes no sense to me. Selling on the low end and if today isn’t a signal of shambles that is UK PLC then I don’t know what is. We’re going “green” my ass that’s why were opening coal mines in 2021. Also BOE asking lenders to get ready for negative rates even though they say not to take it as a signal for the shift! Wtf lets raid the savers and frugal individuals. Need to relax and just weather the storm to be honest. We are in a much better place than we were 6months ago and I'm not talking price. The vaccines are in place being rolled out new variants is nothing new and to be expected the vaccines will be modified to deal with such a thing. Come summer things will look brighter. All this doom and glooms isn't healthy neither is rampant ramping (GME as a prime example.) People posting on the lower end of 2 quid may or may not get those entries but it's clear they see value in buying at that point. Yes it sucks to see the price this far back but what can you do. We all agree BP seems undervalued and if we compare it to the madness of what happened with tech and ev eventually there will be a shift into value vs growth. 08-2010 showed be that. All the junior oil companies who never really made it to production but sold a dream of big fat juice profits are either decimated or long gone. End of the day BP chugging along nicely their profits were hit big last year but asset depreciation added to that. Oil is at a higher prices and most banks in the USA already saying we're going to see a shortage of oil and when things really open up we may see the impact of the shortage drive oil price to $70-80 at that point you can't keep BP as a 2 quid company. Over an entire year during covid it’s been factored. Plus if you read the actual report majority of losses are asset write downs. Those assets have appreciated in value since q2. This is what’s annoying with most media reports they don’t break down what the losses actually are. BP has a strong cash position debt in most majors has always been high.

Everyone knew it would be reporting a financial year end loss it was obvious after Q2. The price is a bit of an over reaction given that we missed analysts expectations big whoop we still turned a profit. I agree with one poster on this forum about companies like Cineworld out performing beeps in terms of % gain. My opinion is we are moving slow because the money is chasing the "hot trade". There are a lot of gamblers than investors in the market at the current time fundamentals mean squat.

Come April results I think the general economic outlook will be looking better in that governments will be looking to "build back better". Travel demand will be up for sure. Not 100% certain on flights as each destination will be dependent on their on rules. I think airline stocks will benefit from a share price perspective but will be loss making in the coming quarters desperate to sell tickets at low prices. I had a look a flight to barbados not too long ago and it was about £250-300 last I went I spent upwards of £600.

Hopefully vaccination rates will be up etc. For now it's switch off come back later at least for me.

Q4 results are a culmination of q1-3 + last quarter markets acting like write downs are a new things they were already presented in q2. Market always looks ahead. Logically speaking oil prices remaining over $50 for the next 3 quarters and the potential reopening + stimulus will filter down into energy. Stop acting like this is the death of petrol and oil. Majority of cars still need carbon fuels. Planes will fly again at some point. I remember pre q3 results the amount of analysts saying bp might cut divi al together how many were wrong most expected a loss that quarter too wrong again. Most of Asia is up and running regardless of infections. This will come up good again eventually regardless of charts.
