RE: a paragraph from the article13 Apr 2016 11:31
I sympathise with your predicament as I am in the same situ also. I am with Halifax Sharedealing and they do not support trading on the TSX. I telephoned them and they confirmed that the holding will still be there i.e. visible on my share dealing account, but I will not be able to trade on it. You don't lose your investment - but yes, in effect you are "frozen out" Therefore the action I am taking today is to open an account with a broker who does trade on North American stocks (in this case I am going to use Hargreaves Lansdown) and transfer the stock over to them. Halifax will charge £25 to do this (although they will transfer free once it actually delists - however, I don't want to wait).
HArgreaves have also advised me that when I do open the account with them I need to also complete a form called a W-8BEN which is a "certificate of Foreign status of Beneficial Owner for US tax reporting".
I am acting today i.e. as soon as possible as I do understand it can take a couple of weeks to effect a transfer.
Of course - this is what I am personally going to do - there may well be other options ... but I dont know any!
Hope helps

PS.... I think this is going to go ballistic at some point soon! IMHO ;-)
