because they said the same about Lidsey and Brockham - not just in the AR but in interviews and webcasts - and we know what happened there. I expect they'll blame the Council and drag it out slowly while they ramp up the announcement of progress at SFB.

They might also take some other "valuable assets" (sic) at knock down prices from the likes of Europa just to keep the pot boiling

GKB - I agree - ANGS have been economical with the truth over and over.

However I think they have a chance (note NOT a certainty) of making money at SFB - for a start the field was developed by someone else who knew what they were doing and it flowed reasonable amounts of gas in the past. Secondly they actually don't have to do a lot to get it back up and running - certainly it's low risk compared to Balcombe or Horse Hill or a similar exploration venture. The key questions are deliverability (amounts and duration) and the gas contract/price.

I suspect Balcombe is a dog - Cuadrilla farmed it out , they have never shown any serious inclination to go back and the reports of the tests sound too like Brockham (where is Double headed Crook or Alan 2017 -sigh to tell us how good it will be?) to have any confidence in a successful outcome. It's now 7 years since Balcombe 2 was drilled.

So no chance of approval this side of Mid October and therefore no real news until next Easter - I think its purely a diversion while they work on SFB - the professional planners don't like it, the council doesn't like it and I don't think Cuadrilla give a toss about it. Expect an RNS in early 2021 saying they have reevaluated the data (as per Brockham) and decided the money will be better spent at SFB - which I think is true
