More or less - you are (reasonably) sure of a cash flow - obliviously it's a bit of a punt on the oil price but the risks of drilling, building the platform etc aren't there. The sellers of the royalties may be happy to accept cash now as they may have bought at a much lower price.

But I have real trouble in seeing this at the return levels that people are quoting. It's the nearest thing in the oil business to putting your money into a building society account. Sensible yes, safe yes but rates of return aren't great.

And any deal would involve UJO paper - a company that , to put it mildly, has very chequered record with serial leaks to the market and is not going anywhere.
