Smiths Detection Inc. enters agreement with Kromek to deliver wearable radiation detection

Hi Vascular, not seen that one, I've searched around in Smith's Detection site a number of times now hoping to see Kromeks D3/D3/5 units listed and any other radiation products and not seen them listed yet.
But it was good news to get the expanded area contract and it could follow on to other things eg the Bio detection systems that Smith's has a basic unit so far and Kromeks Kapscan would be complementary I think, allways good news to get deals with big global companies and gives Kromeks tech even larger customer base.

Way back in 2006 Smith's secured a 222 mil dollar development contract for the US dept of security, with another UK partner 'Symetrica Ltd' but with no existing radiation detection products on Smith's web site at present it must have been unsuccessful at the time?

So Smith's have long been involved with radiation products and it was gap in thier portfolio and should reassure that they're now in partnership with Kromek.
No one's invested here for the odd 1 or 2 million dollar contract it's the large national contracts that come up through obsolescence or tech product innovation such as fully networked wearable and detection ability.

I can't see any prices mentioned, I'd assume it would be largely based on volume requirements.
There was a per unit cost mentioned some years ago, but this was for a USA national rollout that's not happened .....yet

Hi Vascular/Billy, I think the Smiths tie up agreement has still to kick in, I might be wrong, but the press releases at the time specifically quoted for the North & South American markets, Europe being covered by the existing broad base of sales reps and partners.

Hungary boarders Ukraine as does many other countries and you'd like to think the EU has its finger on the ball with the security of it's citizens and the monitoring of radioactive material movements. But as with energy and now food security policy they seem to get it worryingly wrong every time.
I've just checked the Smiths Detection site again for Kromeks D3/5 wearable dectors and they don't appear (yet)
So maybe they're just a bit slow to update thier site.
They don't have or show any radiation detection products and as mentioned here previously thier Bio detection offering is a filter/remove/take to lab..wait..for results etc etc...so light years away from Kromeks Bio realtime tech using state of the art (UK) sequencing tech.
As someone mentioned here also the number of D3 radiation units or similar tech to effectively cover and hopefully pick up materials trafficking in Europe would be many 100? times the sales we've seen to date, so it looks like the EU politicians are just hoping nothing bad 'ever' happens.
But sales can only increase for Kromek.

Well it's reassuring to know you've got qualifications and stificates. and you actually are invested here and not working for a city buy out mob like Science Group and just throwing mud at the wall.
Back to the ' price Cannon allegedly paid for Reden, and your disbelief at thier stupidly. Well the 280 mil dollars was in Canadian dollars...(Loonie's to those that know) which have averaged over the last 40 years at over 2:1 to GB pounds, although a bit stronger recently.
At the time the rate was 1.7 to the pound.
So that equates to if my sums are right to =
£160+ mil , Cannon already owned 20 or 25 of the company, so the fig paid was 75% of that = £120mil...still a lot more than Kmks valuation....and that might be due to the lack of value we give world class tech pioneering companies....we always have been that way compared the US and Canada.
But you know all this Skid cos.....

Good read that Vascular, I know Bill Gates was trying to warn countries and governments about the risk of an airborne COVID type pandemic years before it happened, good to see he's supporting
this work again.
I think, well hope there will be some regular news about the Bio detection work as it progresses.

Just the medical imaging side of the business has enormous potential -

It's extremely difficult to compared kmk to many other companies that I do agree with you on.
Canons acquisition of Redlen was going to get some coverage just by the nature of CZT manuf.
Why you should think Canon would jettison Redlen after 7 or 8 years of co development and intertwined IP and successful partnership I don't know.
Looking just at Spectrum Dynamics problems would / should answer the question. GE have only gained initial market share from ( allegedly) stealing Spectrums IP.)....so every sale of a GE CZT
Unit is with the help of some Spectrum hard work....they have now partnered with Kromek.
I spent a year working a an engineer in Tel-Aviv.
Israelis are no Muggs, they wouldn't have looked at Kromek if they had any doubt about their tech, management, or company's on going viability.
