After months of waiting and numerous referrals for the integration of documents, the Government has exercised the golden power with a negative opinion towards Tekne Spa. A decision that amazes and raises strong doubts about the future of a production excellence in Abruzzo.
For 90 days compared to the expected 45, we were left with bated breath and an operation to sell part of the shares to a new American shareholder, which everyone imagined to be concluded, which would generate the final resolution of the business crisis was blocked. Tekne, despite not having the size of other famous Italian companies, is an important reality in our territory, which in recent years has seen such exponential growth as to generate the crisis certainly not due to lack of orders.
Despite past difficulties, the company after the clashes we also had turned the page and recovered the debt to the workers, presented a return plan for banks and suppliers (already started), found a solid partner and strengthened its staff. Today Tekne has returned to employing almost 200 employees after dropping during the crisis to 145 with the prospect of an additional 40 hires shortly. Tekne had regained stability and confidence thanks also to important orders that guarantee its production continuity for over ten years, in the wake of these also the purchase of an additional plant always in the Ortona area.
After the news arrived, this morning we asked Tekne for an urgent meeting and the CEO Dr. Ambrogio D'Arrezzo received us promptly.
The company wanted to reassure us, it stated that activities will continue normally, that the debt return plan to workers has been successfully completed and that the debt zeroing program to banks and suppliers will continue without any problem and that they had already secured themselves by providing a "B" plan in case there was a negative opinion of the golden power. It was reiterated that Tekne has repartition with normal activities with its own forces and that they do not foresee any kind of criticality for the coming times.
We have taken positive note of these statements but we can not help but be worried and exempt ourselves from doing our job, the reasoning and the actions that follow: immediately after the meeting we wrote to the Prefect of Chieti and the Abruzzo Region to request their intervention, below is a summary:
