Biden wins Georgia13 Nov 2020 20:20
United States President-elect Joe Biden won the 2020 election in Georgia, becoming the first Democratic presidential candidate to flip the Republican stronghold blue since Bill Clinton in 1992, CNN, NBC and ABC's projections showed on Friday.
The ex-vice president took a lead by 14,000 votes in the state out of nearly five million votes counted, though counties across Georgia begun earlier today a hand recount of almost five million ballots.
Including 16 electoral votes carried by Georgia, Biden collected a total of 306 electors, matching US President Donald Trump's result in the 2016 US election. Meanwhile, Trump won 232 electors after North Carolina was called in his favor.
