Moscow has launched a wide-ranging campaign telling residents of occupied parts of Ukraine to vote in Russia's presidential election.
For the first time, the national vote is taking place over three days (15-17 March), but additional early voting has already begun in the occupied parts of four Ukrainian regions: Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Donetsk and Luhansk.
One resident complained of pro-Russian collaborators with ballot boxes going from house to house looking for voters accompanied by armed soldiers.
Vladimir Putin will certainly win another term of office, but a high turnout would help the Kremlin's efforts to legitimise his continued rule.
It would also be used to justify Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin is one of four candidates on the ballot, but none of the others poses a realistic challenge.
All of his most outspoken critics have either been forced into exile, jailed, or have died.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed a Ukrainian uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) over the Moscow region at 10:15 am Moscow time today.
The incident comes after a broader series of attacks repelled by Russia, which involved neutralizing 35 Ukrainian drones overnight across eight different regions.
The Defense Ministry described these incidents as attempts by "the Kiev regime" to conduct "terrorist attacks" using aircraft-type UAVs targeting various facilities within the Russian Federation.

Former United States President Donald Trump said while appearing as a special guest speaker at a Buckeye Values PAC Rally in Dayton, Ohio that If he doesn't get elected, "it's gonna be a bloodbath for the country."
He claimed that he is persecuted more than the former US President Abraham Lincoln, who was assassinated, noting that "Nobody comes close to Trump." He also promised not to cut Social Security and Medicare, saying "We'll be drilling like a son of a gun, but we're leaving your Social Security around."
Trump opened his speech by asking attendees to "stand for horribly and unfairly treated January 6 hostages." This speech comes after the news that the trial related to his hush-money case will be delayed for 30 days.

Russian Defense Ministry announced that their country's air defenses intercepted and destroyed 35 Ukrainian drones overnight and in the morning over eight Russian regions.
"Attempts by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks using aircraft-type UAVs against facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation were foiled," the statement said, adding that the attack affected Moscow, Belgorod, Kaluga, Orel, Rostov, Yaroslavl, Kursk, and Krasnodar regions.
Earlier, it was reported that Russia repelled two drone attacks heading to Moscow, while several Ukrainian drones tried to attack the Slavyansk oil refinery in the Krasnodar region.

There was an airline called DAN-AIR.
It had so many fatal accidents that tops were marketed with DAN DARE emblazoned across their fronts. I saw some at Gatwick on my travels.

Minister for the Armed Forces of United Kingdom James Heappey announced his resignation at the end of March in a letter addressed to his local association, citing "time to step away from politics, prioritise my family, and pursue a different career," The Times reported on Friday.
"The opportunity to serve the communities within the Wells constituency for the last nine years has been the greatest honour of my life," the Iraq, Afghanistan and Northern Ireland veteran added.
As a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Wells Constituency, Heappey will be stepping down from his government role and will not be participating in the next general election. His decision comes after he voiced his frustration with colleagues regarding the need for increased funding in defence.

A Labour-led government after the next UK election would be the best result for stocks and the pound, according to a new Bloomberg survey that shows the ruling Conservatives have failed to win back the faith of global investors a year after Liz Truss’s disastrous mini-budget.
About two-thirds of finance professionals said an outright win for Keir Starmer’s center-left party or a Labour-led coalition would be the “most market-friendly outcome,” a stinging verdict on a Tory party that’s long considered itself the natural partner of business and finance.

Several people have been detained for vandalism at polling stations on the first day of voting in presidential elections, Russian officials say.
Incidents involved green dye being poured into ballot boxes, the boxes being set alight and fireworks being set off inside polling stations, state media reported.
Vladimir Putin is certain to win six more years in office after the vote.
However, officials have called on law enforcement officers to be vigilant.
Voting is taking place in Russia over three days until Sunday. The result is not in doubt as Mr Putin has no credible opponent, however state-run media said that turnout had reached 23% by late afternoon in Moscow.
Most of the incidents were reported at polling stations in Moscow, Voronezh in south Russia, and the region of Karachay-Cherkessia in the north Caucasus, according to state news agency Tass.
