Trump Organization, CFO to be charged Thursday - report30 Jun 2021 16:43
Former United States President Donald Trump's business empire, the Trump Organization, and its longtime chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg are expected to be charged by the criminal court on Thursday, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The Manhattan district attorney's office will charge the Trump Organization and Weisselberg over evading taxes on fringe benefits, such as transportation, real estate and private school tuition. If prosecutors are successful in showing a systematic tax evasion in the company, more serious charges can follow alleging a scheme.
In the three years of a legal investigation, this would be the first criminal charge against the Trump Organization and its executives. The 45th US president himself is not expected to be charged, according to his lawyer.
