Washington D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine's office revealed on Thursday it subpoenaed social media giant Facebook for documents and data proving that the company reduced misleading posts on its platform about the COVID-19 vaccine.
"Facebook has said it's taking action to address the proliferation of COVID-19 vaccine misinformation on its site, but then when pressed to show its work, Facebook refused. AG Racine's investigation aims to make sure Facebook is truly taking all steps possible to minimize vaccine misinformation on its site and support public health," AG's office said.
AG Racine is looking for Facebook to submit its study on vaccine hesitancy, documents identifying those who violated the policies, the total volume of removed content and details on resources that Facebook is devoting to fight misinformation.

The World Health Organization (WHO) blamed on Thursday the most recent spikes in infections from COVID-19 in Europe on fans going to matches of the UEFA Euro 2020 and bars surrounding the venues.
"We need to look at how people get there. Are they traveling in large crowded convoys of buses? And when they leave the stadiums, are they going into crowded bars and pubs to watch the matches?" Former United States President Donald Trump's business empire, the Trump Organization, and its longtime chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg are expected to be charged by the criminal court on Thursday, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The Manhattan district attorney's office will charge the Trump Organization and Weisselberg over evading taxes on fringe benefits, such as transportation, real estate and private school tuition. If prosecutors are successful in showing a systematic tax evasion in the company, more serious charges can follow alleging a scheme.
In the three years of a legal investigation, this would be the first criminal charge against the Trump Organization and its executives. The 45th US president himself is not expected to be charged, according to his lawyer.

Conclusion

Wynnstay continues to look like a sensible long term hold for the conservative investor. It has been around since 1918 and it has a reasonably low risk strategy of growing organically and via bolt-on acquisitions in a fragmented market that it has now specialised in for over a century. It has a broad spread of activities and a strong balance sheet.

While progress in the past has been slow and its business will always be subject to cyclical factors, the weather, and relatively low margins, the fact is it is currently generating record results so something is going well.

The group also references ‘clarity provided by the EU settlement’ - and Brexit concerns are something that have weighed on the shares over the past couple of years. Sentiment in the UK agricultural sector has greatly improved and trading conditions are very encouraging.

At some point, conditions will become less favourable but Wynnstay has the financial strength and sector expertise to ride out any such periods and has a good chance of growing profits and dividends attributable to shareholders over the long term.

The group continues to invest in its manufacturing capacity, it hopes to improve production efficiencies, and is already looking for further complementary acquisitions, so a good update.
