Germany allows adolescents to get jabs16 Aug 2021 13:12
Germany's Standing Committee on Vaccination (STIKO) recommended on Monday vaccinations against the coronavirus of adolescents aged 12 to 17.
STIKO previously authorized COVID-19 vaccinations of the population on June 10 but limited its recommendation to adolescents with pre-existing medical conditions and those with a higher risk of developing more severe symptoms of COVID.
The committee attributed its decision to more available data on the jab safety in the context of inoculation of the younger population, and to an increased risk of infection for the age group during the pandemic's fourth wave.
